Retired teacher Pat Lewis & Cllr Roger West: Caption here Standing up for our school children. Owing to the loss of school places & Local Schools:Tory record increasing birth rates our local school, Shutting Townsend School HILLVIEW PRIMARY, is being causing misery to 100’s of children forced to take an extra 30 pupils. who have longer journeys, & face To do this the school will have to lose more traffic jams across town. (Now U-turning and re-opening its’ dedicated library space as it is Townsend at extra cost!) needed as an extra classroom. Hillview has educated generations of pupils effectively on what is probably one of the smallest school sites in Bournemouth. We feel an extra class is an unreasonable demand to make on the school, staff and pupils.
Failing to plan for the rise in pupil numbers leading to the loss of music rooms and libraries as pupils are crammed in. When will our children get an apology from our Tory Councillors?
Election called: 31st May Peter Charon, former Council leader, has resigned. This means residents will have to vote for his replacement as our ward councillor. Cllr Charon was forced to resign by his Conservative colleagues as Council leader earlier this year.
, a long term resident of Northbourne, has joined Councillor Roger West and the local Lib Dem team for this area. “Pat’s a great asset to the team” says Roger West. “She’s a retired deputy head teacher, was a local councillor and is a great campaigner on health issues, as a former nurse.” “She has also been the older people’s champion for Bournemouth. In this role she won the respect of people from all political parties.”
The Lib Dems were a few votes from winning this seat last time. You have one vote (not the normal 3 for local elections) so use it wisely! It’s a two horse race as only the Lib Dems can beat the Tories - so don’t waste your vote on other parties.
Team Roger & Pat “Her local links, hard work and experience make her the perfect choice to fight for our area” says Roger. “If Pat is elected she’d help hold this awful Tory Administration to account.” Get in touch with Pat to share your views (details over the page).
Redhill & Northbourne Lib Dems working all year round
Want £100? You can’t have it - as the Council is spending more than this for every household in Bournemouth (£8.5m in total) on the Imax. Having paid a fortune for the building, shut down businesses losing taxpayers a further £300,000 a year, they then ignore the results of their own consultation. All we’ll have is the most expensive empty space in England. Why not reduce the building size and keep a wet weather facility, at a fraction of the price? Why have the Council got such a bad deal?
Pat & Roger fighting for local facilities - and against the Council wasting YOUR money!. Action photo
Sell offs: Meanwhile the Council is handing over services to a private firm whose share price has crashed, so they can run them at higher cost to taxpayers. What’s going on? Pay rises: Top Tory councillors paybill soars. Meanwhile services suffer, and staff face pay freezes & job losses.

Extra funds for schools in north Bournemouth.
After the General Election neither the Tories (36% of votes) or Lib Dems (24%) could form a government on their own. Both though agreed the national interest came first and they had to work together to tackle Labour’s debt mountain. In Government Lib Dem election policies are winning through. Protecting pensions and the “Pupil premium” are targeting scarce funds wisely. Meanwhile Conservative excesses are being held in check. Lib Dems in government and on your side.
