VOTE POSTER DESIGN Being 2020 is an election year, I wanted to focus on bipartisanship when designing this vote poster. My goal to get the general public to get out and vote so I choose to do two posters. For one I wanted a witty pun to go along with it, and I knew I wanted the poster to mention the future, so Futura was the perfect design pun & choice. The other for people not into designer lingo.

Dollar Store Ad Campaign The goal for this assignment was to create an ad campaign for a dollar store brand of our choosing. I went with canned ham because it seemed like most interesting product that the dollar store had to offer. My ultimate goal was to make dollar store canned ham more appealing to the target audience of young mothers who need a quick and easy meal. I was assigned to create 3 fractional ads along with an outdoor ad and a pop- up for a browser.

Concert Promo Poster Design This is a very early on assignment from my freshman class I reworked. The goal of this assignment was to introduce us to all the tools that illustrator had to offer most importantly the pen tool. We were to pick a band and create an event poster for them, I love the Beatles and John is my favorite of the group so I decided to illustrate him. After coming back to the assignment almost 8 years later I wanted to still express my love for the music and relearn illustrator after not using it for so long so it felt very nostalgic working on it. I wanted to use appropriate themed font and took lots of inspiration from posters from the bands past.

kinetic type animation This project was a change of pace for me. I had never worked with animation before. This project showcases strong typography and a fundamental use of contrast between bold San serif fonts and a thin serif font. This project also allowed me to work in a medium I’m not as comfortable with to create a video with a narrative of one of my favorite poems by Robert Frost.

05

Book Cover Design For this project I focused on one of my favorite books/ movies, A Clockwork Orange. I chose to showcase my Illustration work as well as my typography and layout skills. This included a front cover a back cover and a inside spread view of how every page would be laid out.

06

Branding Trends Design For this project we were given a choice of several words to choose from. Night seemed like the most versatile word at the time so I rolled with it. Now the real challenge here was that we had to now make up 12 different logos for our words. Each logo had to represent a different design style that a client may want to see when we are creating logos for them.

Saul Bass Editorial Mini-zine With this project I was assigned a famous graphic designer, Saul Bass is someone who is known for his movies including many of Alfred Hitchcock’s. I wanted to convey that same early 50’s movie poster feeling in my spreads and cover with thin contrasting type and patterns as well as a bold color palette.

Peace & Plenty Park Rebrand This was one of my first clients project for Design Solutions Team. Our goal was to re-brand a local park in Providence area. Doug Victor was the founder of this park and his vision was a return to nature. With that in mind me and a team went to work We gave Doug a logo, letterhead, and t shirt designs initially. I have since gone back and spruced up the logo and the rest of the brand adding a business card and a website layout.

Typography poster design With this project we were each assigned a typeface and was tasked with designing a creative 11x17 poster. I was given the font Tahoma and wanted to showcase how bold this sans serif was. I went with this idea of reflection so that every side of the poster seems equal. I also wanted to show off the font in case maybe someone who had never seen it before would be more inclined to use it in there work.

editorial spread design The goal of this assignment was to create 2 spreads for a not so appealing online article. The article I chose was about setting up a skate-park in your local area. With that idea in mind I went to work creating a very grunge 90’s Thrasher inspired layout. The spreads feature original photography taken by me at a local skate-park in Fall River, MA. This was the first assignment I truly worked solely in Indesign in so it was a very big adjustment at first. I learned many useful tools including alignment, justification, even the grid all together. The biggest take away from this assignment was learning what a layout should look like.

UOM annual report design For this assignment we were asked to rework an existing companies annual report design. This was no easy task we were asked to create a 24 page document having to piece information from very poorly designed annual reports. This was one of my favorite projects. It taught me about how with brand and image everything has to match. Using my growing layout skills I think this project shows off everything I learned in my editorial course and showcases some more of my illustrations and info-graphics which I had never done before.

the basics branding design For this assignment I was tasked in creating a brand. Typically you might think this is just a logo but a brand essentials so much more. The Basics is this idea of products that we use daily. I decided to go with milk, bread, butter and eggs. My brand name was Almanac playing on the idea of farmers almanac which predicts the weather and crops each year. I had to provide how the brand should be used, what my target audience was and create packaging for said brand. I went with a very simplistic approach to this project wanting my fonts and colors to be bold and timeless. I wanted my product to convey all natural and didn’t want it to have to lean on over complicated design to get its point across.
