ello all!!

First of all I want to thank everybody for their help, support and RSVPs. It really makes all the difference knowing that you have a strong team to back you up. Despite a rocky start to planning this New Member Party, we had a terrific turnout!!! We initially had 21 people RSVP to attend, however we quickly blew right through those numbers.

We had in attendance a count of 44 Members in total!!! 22 Current Members turned up to meet and greet 21 New Members and 1 Quest Member (who will becoming a Full Fledged Member soon!). Steve Postal and his Team at Porsche of Towson provided a wonderful bounty of bagels, donuts, and coffee from Dunkin Donuts. There were absolutely no leftovers...ha-ha. Thanks to some pre-planning I had taken my laptop with me so that I could check off registrants 12 on my roster and track New Members. This

orsche of Towson was especially awesome because I was able to walk a few folks through creating Clubregistration accounts so that they can register for future events. It also aided in my tracking of the sale of Name Badges and Grill Badges!! Thanks to the New Member Party Sale Prices, we sold 22 Name Badges and 2 Grill badges!! We took cash and check, and a few people were able to use my computer to pay via PAYPAL! We gave away 2 Porsche Parade Backpacks, Steve McQueen Posters, a PCA Logo Sign (all courtesy of Vu at National) as well as 2 Gift Certificates for Porsche of Towson @ $150 each! Manny Alban was a great MC and gave a quick spiel about the Club and running the door prize raffle with Aaron. Steve Postal followed up with a quick talk about Porsche of Towson and their

relationship with the Club. If all this wasn't enough...we actually used my computer to help 2 families JOIN PCA and Chesapeake Region at the Party!! Another family was going home to join as their VIN information was at home on their Porsche Build Sheet!!! They haven't even taken delivery of their car but couldn't wait to join us!! Aaron and I were very proud of our turnout and very excited to share all this great news with

There are different levels or types of Concours. The classifications are designed to accommodate various levels of commitment, car usage, age, and originality. Beginners can enter their daily driver and learn a great deal about the history of that model and year, while making it gleam. Mecum Auction, Monterey, Californ

Steve McQueen's 1976 Porsche For a cool $1,950,000 you could have purchased Steve McQueen’s 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo. Forbes Contributor Jason Fogelson Last month, I reported on the upcoming auction of Steve McQueen’s 1976 Porsche Turbo Carrera, the last special order Porsche that the legendary movie star owned. Mecum Auctions brought the Turbo Carrera, also known by the factory designation “930,” out to the Motor Press Guild’s monthly luncheon at the Proud Bird Restaurant near Los Angeles International Airport on July 14. In conjunction with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the famous car went under the gavel at Mecum Auctions event on Saturday, August 15 in Monterey, California. Sold as Lot #71 after a round of spirited bidding, the McQueen 930 brought in $1.95 million, setting the current record for a stock 1976 Turbo Carrera. Anticipation was high for this car, which carries undisputed provenance and a well-documented chain of ownership. The ’76 has the distinction of being the last special order Porsche that McQueen ordered before his death from cancer in 1980. Collector/restorer Mike Regalia consigned the Porsche to Mecum for auction, and promised to assign a portion of the proceeds of the sale to Boys Republic, where McQueen spent time as a youth. ***

58-year-old man was robbed of a Porsche Boxster and fatally shot in the head early Monday in West Baltimore, the city's police department said Monday afternoon.

Police identified him on Tuesday as Paul Hilroy Passley from the 6700 block of Brompton Road in Baltimore County.

Unless you happen to own a Tesla and live near a supercharging station, the current battery life of electric cars doesn't go incredibly far. While electric cars may get 260 miles to a full charge, gas-guzzling cars can get 300 miles or more.

Highways England announced last week that it is embarking on an 18-month scheme to trial charging lanes after completing an early feasibility study. The victim, who was not immediately identified, (The testing won't be on public roads just yet, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after offithough.) cers arrived in the 2100 block of Vine Street in the Penrose area. The off-road trials of wireless power technology will help to create a more sustainable road network for England and open up new opportunities for businesses that transport goods across the country." This isn't the first trial of its kind. In South Korea, a 7.5mile (12 km) stretch of road charges up electric buses as they drive along, via a process called Shaped Magnetic Field in Resonance (SMFIR). In England, a trial in Milton Keynes saw buses charged wirelessly through plates in the road, but they had to stop moving to receive the juice.

Pointing out improvements in battery technology, Nieuwenhuis questioned whether there would ever be a need for such roads. *** But this new scheme is a lot more ambitious and po29 tentially game-changing. Some skeptics have spo-

rari after a race long battle with both the No.98 Aston Martin and the No.77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche. The SMP Ferrari 458 Italia of Victor Shaytar, Andrea Bertolini and Alexei Basov beat their opposition for the second race in succession to conclude a perfect points scoring weekend after Shaytar and Basov took the pole point yesterday afternoon. The Russian/Italian alliance now enjoys a healthy 25-point advantage in the points' standings.

This battle for second placed continued to rage after the driver changes, and both Patrick Pilet and Davide Rigon jostled for position with great spirit. It was the second consecutive WEC win for Porsche after its Le Mans triumph in June. A bumper 62,000 crowd enjoyed three days of excellent WEC action on the first ever visit to Germany. The fans could not have gone home happier as Porsche took not only a 1-2 overall, but also victory and second place in the LMGTE Pro class. The win for Webber, Hartley and Bernhard today means they are now just 17 points behind Silverstone and Spa victors Lotterer, Fassler and Treluyer in the fight for the 2015 FIA World Endurance Driver’s Championship standings. The No.17 Porsche 919 Hybrid fought back from a long early pit stop, after having to replace its front bodywork. After this unscheduled stop, the Australian-German-New Zealand trio of drivers stamped their authority on the race and capitalised after the sister No.18 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Marc Lieb, Neel Jani and Romain Dumas lost time when three penalties had to be served for exceeding the fuel allowance on the car. An engine sensor that controls the fuel flow had failed on the No.18 Porsche 919 Hybrid. After the first, five-second stop/go penalty, Marc Lieb engaged in a close side-by-side fight with Webber, which briefly saw the cars touching at turn two. However, the two longer penalties, 30-seconds and 60-seconds respectively, meant that any chance of victory was all but lost. The No.18 Porsche recovery drive saw exceptional stints from Neel Jani and Marc Lieb in the final hours. Jani took part in a thrilling battle with both of the Audi R18 etron quattro’s in the final hour, as he attempted to climb up in to second position. The fight ultimately got resolved at the final pit stop, and from there Marc Lieb was able to ward off any threat from Lucas Di Grassi in the No.8 Audi R18 etron quattro and An- Toyota Racing finished its home race in fifth and

The AER powered LMP1 car took over at the front of the privateer class early on after both Rebellion Racing cars hit trouble. The ByKolles car even recovered from losing its rear wing on the main straight to finish the race in 18th position overall. The No.12 Rebellion R-One claimed second in the class but was delayed after stopping on track during the second hour. The Hong Kong-entered team scored a second win in as many races to extend its title leads in the drivers' and teams' title fight. Nick Tandy initially opened up a healthy gap over the chasing G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan entries, but the lead was temporarily lost after the second scheduled stops. Matt Howson was able to chase down Roman Rusinov’s No.26 G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan and pulled off a conclusive move into the first corner, before working on regaining another gap. Further excellent stints from Richard Bradley and another from Tandy at the end, wrapped up the maximum points again and extended their LMP2 title lead to 15 points. G-Drive Racing didn’t have an answer to the KCMG ORECA05-Nissan’s pace today but still claimed a fine double podium position. Rusinov, Canal and Bird were 71 seconds adrift in second place, while Derani, Yacaman and Gonzalez scored their third podium of the season after a spirited race, which saw Derani pull off one of the moves of the race when he overtook Nelson Panciatici’s Signatech Alpine at turn two.

uying a used Porsche can be a daunting task. As a buyer you are aware that not all used Porsches have been treated the same by their former owners. Some owners have babied their cars and those cars need nothing other than a new owner. Other cars may have secrets buried deep within that could potentially cost you thousands in unexpected repair bills. We explored the benefits of an independent shop's Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) program in our March Tech Session. Now it is time to understand

Certified Pre-Owned what the benefits are of the dealer's Porsche Approved Certified Pre Owned (PACPO) program. Porsche of Towson will open their service department's door to us on November the seventh. Their staff will discuss the process of selection, inspection and reconditioning that is required for a car to enter into PACPO program. This program has the aura of being the best and most comprehensive program in the industry. Come learn if this reputation is well desired and why buying a PACPO

vehicle may just be the best way to procure a pre-owned Porsche. Coffee and donuts start at 8:30 AM and the main event starts at 9:00 AM. Please register on clubregistration.net by 2 November. Just drop us a line if you have any problems with that process and we'll count you in for the event. Tech@pcachs.org See you there! ***

Boxster and Cayman Cayman to be repositioned beneath Boxster CAR understands that the 981.2 relaunch will also include the option, in some markets, to position the Cayman as the entrylevel, cheaper model for the first time. RACE/TRACK 993 $48,000 Many on Rennlist and in PCA know my 993 to be a very well developed and prepared car that is fast and forgiving. It is that rarest of racecars in that it has taken me to the podium quite a few times and, yet, it has never been wrecked. This car spent the first four years four or five years as a street car and then became a car that I drove 99% on the track. It is technically street legal since it's tagged and titled. I've actually been stopped/been given warnings by two police officers, and neither of them cited me for the loud exhaust, roll cage, etc. Lucky, I suppose. I have a lifetime emissions waiver from the state of Maryland, so it never needs to be smogged again. Contact: Mark Samuel at 410-375-6114 43 mark.samuel.lee@gmail.com
