Haworth History 1948

1967

1976

G.W. Haworth, a Holland high school industrial arts teacher, starts Modern Products selling a variety of wood products. His goal? To put his five children through college.

Giancarlo Piretti designs Haworth’s Plia chair, now on permanent exhibit at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Haworth changes its name from Modern Products to Haworth, Inc., and introduces ERA-I®, the world’s first prewired modular office furniture panel. This product revolutionises office environments by enabling users to access power where it’s needed, without extension cords & hard wiring. Also introduce monocoque panel construction, similar to process used in aero plane wings that produces an exceptionally strong panel without stress points.

1954 Haworth begins its shift towards office environments.

1971 Dick Haworth designs Modern Office Modules, the industry’s first acoustical panel with universal panel hinges, dramatically increasing the flexibility of modular office environments.

1999

The company undertakes a major strategic, global expansion plan. Over the next several years, companies are purchased in North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific.

1982 Haworth introduces The Power Base®, the industry’s first eight-wire power system with three dedicated circuits, enabling dedicated power to specific uses while reducing electrical interference.

Haworth is among the first in the industry to achieve ISO-14001, a global standard that ensures environmental best practices around the world.

InterfaceAR™ joins the family, adding greater raised-flooring capabilities.

Haworth’s Chicago showroom is named a winner in the IIDA Interior Design Competition & is the first showroom in the Merchandise Mart that has achieved LEED-CI Gold.

Haworth becomes the first U.S. office furniture manufacturer to be ISO-9001 registered. Haworth’s onsite corporate recycling centre is built.

Haworth acquires SMED®, & expands into walls, floors and interior architecture. In addition, it becomes the second office furniture manufacturer to pass $2 billion annual sales.

Haworth receives acclaim for its contribution to Work spheres, an exploration of changing office environment on display at MoMA.

Made of 2 chipboard panels, thickness: 18mm each surface finish: melamine or wood veneer edges; ABS, in the same colour as the panel panels are fixed to the vertical structure by means of steel hooks The correct number of hooks is delivered with each panel, according to the size and typology of the panel hooks must be screwed to the panels on site, using the appropriate holes
