MANIFESTO TWO THOUSAND & FOURTEEN
ABOUT STAGE 17 RACING
Stage 17 Racing is a cycling team focused on the development of male athletes between the ages of 18 and 25. Stage 17 Racing is owned and operated by Stage 17, a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging adolescents to use bicycles as an avenue towards better health and increased selfesteem. We serve to bridge the gap between the unpolished junior athlete and the well trained professional. We promote and clean environment absent of negative influences and strive to positively influence American bicycle racing and bring it back to prominence. We teach accountability, responsibility, and maturity. We strive to never make the same mistake twice.
The 2014 season will mark the third year for Stage 17 Racing.
PERSONAL
INSIGHTS “Having a program out there that’s taking guys to big races is huge. We get to watch them. We can’t always spend money on guys who don’t have experience. What [Stage 17 Racing] does is valuable to the lifecycle of the sport. Mike is giving guys experience . . . [Stage 17]’s got a great eye for athletes, taking them to the right races; who’s next, really. It’s how it’s supposed to work.” Jamie Bennett Team Smart Stop Pro Cycling Team Owner
“Stage 17 was a great experience. It is really an amazing group to ride with, everyone is committed and that’s what really makes the team stand out. The team has a huge potential. I think it has everything to make riders jump to the next level.” Flavio de Luna Davila Former Stage 17 Racing rider (now with Team Smart Stop Pro Cycling)
“Stage 17 Racing is really a team to keep your eye on” Dave Towle, Professional
“The team has done more for me at a personal level on and off the bike than any other cycling organization I’ve been with. It’s taken me across the country to races I’ve dreamed about but has also taught me a lot about how to present myself to others and how to present team sponsors.” Daniel Katz Current Stage 17 Racing rider
Sponsor Benefits
the opportunity
Stage 17 Racing provides brands with an opportunity to be involved in a diverse community covering three areas of interest – racing, recreation and spectator events. These racers, riders and spectators are focused on living active and sustainable lifestyles. Stage 17 Racing looks at the team as not only a way to raise the awareness of our riders, but also our family of sponsors. They will be exposed to the brand in a number of different ways:
Logo placements
on-site marketing
social media
press materials & website
Sponsor Benefits
transforming good into great In addition, Stage 17 Racing sponsors will have access through the team to fans at races, group rides, shop signings, etc. Your support of Stage 17 Racing contributes to a number of things that help organize a development cycling team including travel, food, race entry fees, promotion, rider training and more by supporting stage 17 racing. You’re also indirectly supporting stage17.org, the nonprofit arm focused on improving the health and quality of life of adolescents through cycling as a form of transportation and recreation. We have high expectations for this team at Stage 17 Racing, both on and off the bike. Sponsors interested in forming long term relationships should be made aware that we have many long term goals that extend past the domestic races outlined in the manifesto. A few races on our extended radar include classics across the pond such as the U23 Paris Roubaix and U23 Tour of Flanders. Back at home, we aim to bring the boys to two of the largest stage races in North America — Tour of Utah and Tour of California.

ADOLESCENT HEALTH THROUGH CYCLING Stage 17 Racing is owned and operated by stage17.org, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the health and quality of life of adolescents through cycling as a form of transportation and recreation. stage17.org utilizes a number of resources to achieve its goals, like working with junior high and high schools to provide bicycling advocacy demonstrations. stage17.org also establishes group rides for any skill level encouraging bicycle riding among adolescent with their parents. Adolescent health is a great concern as well, so stage17.org provides nutrition tips for active individuals and hosts several food based challenges, such as going sugar free for one month to encourage better eating habits. stage17.org stands behind and promotes awareness of sustainable lifestyle practices, safe helmet use as well as offering reduced priced helmets to adolescents, and a safer cycling community by advocating for more bike lanes and bike friendly parks/trails.
