MY RÉSUMÉ
An insight into who I am and what I’ve done
MICHAEL RUDAK I am a 19 year old Product Design BSc student from Leeds. I have a huge passion for the profession I foretake and hope to share my ideas with you. I split this enthusiasm for design with music, climbing and art. I am currently seeking a 12 month internship from the end of the 2014 academic year

STEALTH
A SELF-MOTIVATED CRAFT KNIFE REDESIGN PROJECT
Stealth is a low budget ergonomic craft knife that offers the user maximum comfort during use. Focus has been primarily put onto the simplicity of use and spreading of pressure amongst the users’ fingers.
Pressure is applied uniformly to create less stress for the controlling finger and a more accurate and harder cut

Grip for both points of contact?
Concept 2 follow to contour of the finger to spread out pressure?
Concept 3 could improve the functionality but contrastingly could decrease appliable pressure limit

the design was developed so that it flows with the contours of the hand, in turn spreading the pressure across the index finger. This allows more force to be applied with little loss of comfortability. The rubber offset material allows for grip which increases accuracy and precision of cut
Concept 6 the extra grip material could interfere with ribbing inside and where the blade sits
fully functioning 3D rapid prototype model modelled in ProLab foam and spray painted
U S E R R E S E A R C H I did some research and found the most common areas that needed improvement in the design of a craft knife
A ribbed design is added inside to strengthen the structure for the load needed to apply a cut

CONNECT Build digitally.
The brief was to design and manufacture a fully working injection moulded children’s computer mouse widget, complete with mould tool. The manufacture was completed in a group of 5 by deciding who’s widget was most feasible and aesthetic. My design was the chosen design.
ACCURACY
LATHE
MILLING
The widget was injected with LDPE and using a variation of colours over the injection period we were able to create the particular coloured mouse we wanted amongst many others.
GRINDING
INJECTION
A display board and point of sale were created to house the widgets. The display board included research into materials selection and mass manufacture details. The aim was to calculate the most efficient method of producing 3 million widgets in 12 weeks.

DEVELOPMENT
1930’S STYLE D.A.B RADIO The task was to design a D.A.B radio based on the style of 1930’s. It had to house certain components and be fully functioning yet beautiful in aesthetic.

How you want it. Fast.
A vegetable cutter designed for AEG for my freelance design work that has the cosumers intentions in mind. It allows the option of slicing or dicing and then pouring straight into the pan. No mess.
Place vegetable in container and place both lid and cutter on, following the grooves.
4
3
Lift the cutter back through the vegetable and into the lid in order to clean the blades.
If dicing is desired, rotate the cutter and the lid 90 degrees and follow through steps 1-3 again.
Firmly apply pressure to the cutter and push all the way through the vegetable.
5
Pour contents straight into the pan. It’s as Simple as that.

WORK PERSONAL STATEMENT Bold; innovative; intuitive. I strive to be all three of these as to me it is what makes a successful designer. No matter how simplistic or challenging the product is, I urge myself to meet all three criteria and produce the best standard of design.
