Studio Introduction: The studio explored and researched how people have lived and how people could live. We started with the “Small Homes Service” which was begun by Robin Boyd, well-known Melbourne architect, and compared a range of houses in different period, since 1950s till now. All these research inform us to design a project house examining living patterns for the future.

Research: The upheavals in modern society, such as high-divorce rate; busy, stressed and tired modern life; high-mobility living; even information technology, are shrinking our households and many people feel aloneness, disconnected, isolated and alienated. The house as a mirror, could reflect the owner’s characteristics and behavior, and it also could show the pattern of living. So i compared 4 typical houses built in the last half century to explore the changes within the house.

There are three things should be marked out: 1. Private car becomes a essential part of daily life, and the Garage grabs more and more space in the house. 2. Public space, such as loung, dinning and kitchen, are highly intergraded. 3. The bedroom becomes more separated from each others.

The concept started When two people becoming partners point and deciding to make a home together, it is not just mean two people apparencing in a same space at same time, moreover, they also bringing their own characteristics and habits together and present in the same place. The relationship between couple could be very closed that they could share everything, but meanwhile, they are creating their own territory seperating from each other.

cold According to the census data from the ABS(2009-2010), the largest household in Australia is COUPLE WITHOUT CHILDREN It occupys 40% of the total population, and it is still growing. So this project is mainly focus on this group of people, and deisgn a couple house to meet the future demonds.

According to my precedent research, the general house just could conclude into two opposit conditions: “speration” (2+ bedroom house) and “combination” (studio). So this project is exploring a intergraded housing typology which contains both “speration” and “combination”, and could mediate the relationship between the couple, I call it “MEDIATION COUPLE HOUSE”.

A New Suburban Interchange Sunshine Station Re-development

PROJECT BRIEF:

PROJECT VISION: To develop low-carbon resilient communities from within the existing fabric of (sub)urban life. It is important to have two things: visions of desirable future living scenarios - and visible interventions, today, that can re-orient the path of future development. This project is leaded by VEIL VEIL: Victorian Eco Innovation Lab [VEIL] It is exploring the transformative power of future visions for new developments in Melbourne. This work is complemented by input from design professionals, Local Councils, State Government and the existing community, to design a suite of design projects that can trigger the building of a broader networked and sustainable precinct. VEIL calls this program: Eco-Acupuncture. VEIL can be accessed at: : http://ecoinnovationlab.com

The Sunshine Studio focus on refelecting on the future development of Sunshine, a suburb currently wrestiling with many of the problems facing Australian suburbs. Sunshine is a place of rich cultural diversity and history, and it is experiencing a rapid decline, from a position of leadership in national manufacturing and employment. Meanwhile, As the inceasing population, sunshine need to redevelop the activity centre to meet the growing needs. This project focus on the existing Sunshine Station precinct, one of the most unsafe sation in melbourne. From the results of my suervey at the beginning, most people were expecting to built a new station, which can provide a convenient access, safety and security and better environment. New planning developments can create a sustainable interchange for sunshine community.

Museum of Modern Art A New Landmark of Zhuzhou

Project Background The map shows a golden triangle which is composed by three cities(Changsha , Xiangtan and Zhuzhou). This triangle is an experiment of urban mechanism. The government want to integrate a group of cities instead of create a super city. they are close to each other and have their own function. This project locate in Zhuzhou. The goverment was trying to create a new landmark for this city which could present the history, culture and vitality of this city.

Zhuzhou is an old industrial city. This can be traced back to the early 1950s when China was founded. In the first five-years plan, Zhuzhou was classified as a national priority the building of one of the eight industrial cities.Zhuzhou was classified as a national priority the building of one of the eight industrial cities. After 50 years, industry has become the city one of the most important characteristics. And train manufacturers is one of the most famous. At present, 80% of the head of train are made in Zhuzhou.

This site is located in the new city center. There is a park next to the field in the northwest.Beside of the site is a main road. And on the otherside of this road is a large uptown. So,there are fore main factors that affect the site design: * Shape of the site * Road trend * Environment * Function
