The Wheatear meanders the old railway road traversing the Alvar & villages of Kastlösa & Skärlöv & an old track at Penåsa in Öland looking for insects in a variety of snail’s slugs’ centipedes & spiders With Blue-Grey underparts & Black wings With a wag & fanning of tail He calls out with a clear wee-chat-chat As he passes over the stream at Penåsbacken & over Lunda Canal There he meets his neighbouring birds the waders The Snipe, Red Shank & the Golden Plover & Whinchat over the dry Alvar Occasionally he may meet rare Montagu’s Harrier gliding past .
