A Message From The President

Wow, where did summer go? August is upon us and back to school is in the air. I presume the swiftness was a direct result of the amazing events and education that kept the summer quite busy.

Kicking off with Apartmentalize in Hotlanta, to Next Gen meetings, Media Relations and Crisis Training, the ever-exciting BB Riverboat Cruise, the Summer Golf Outing, education courses including Hands On: Social Media, and NAA Certification classes, GCNKAA has not disappointed.

Behind the scenes, your Board of Directors and Committee volunteers have been working to partner with our City and enhance our legislative efforts. We will look forward to meeting with the Vice Mayor in August, the Mayor in September, and scheduling time to speak with the Auditor in the coming months. The amount of time and dedication it takes from our Legislative Committee Chairs, committee members, and GCNKAA staff is extreme. Thank you to each of you for serving this industry and seeking to make the needed impact in our great city!

The willingness to engage in idea sharing is one of the best things about working in our industry. Competitors don’t hold back in discussing what works – and what doesn’t. For those in the mul- tifamily industry, the best place to engage in these discussions and gain valuable insights is at GCNKAA meetings. This is especially true at our annual Executive Forums. Last year we added an additional Management Forum and we’ve continued that offering in 2023. Watch for more information as the details will be finalized shortly.

For my August Attitude of Gratitude, I would like to acknowledge a person who is consistently steady, seeks what is right, and looks out for others. In what is often an extremely competitive industry, it is a breath of fresh air to find someone that consistently stands on a strong ethical code and does not waver. Thank you to Craig Coffman with Uptown Rental Properties for your encouraging persona, unwavering presence for those of us that have the pleasure of knowing you, and your dedication to the multifamily industry and GCNKAA.
