DESIGN P H I L O S O P H Y I believe humans are emotional and intelligent beings who have a natural need to connect with their space. For me, that means understanding the spirit of the client and the essence of the space.

I learned that design can shape the way we think, feel, behave and live.

I love seeing design look to nature for inspiration.

I realize that good design should not only provide efficient solutions, but also affect at a human level and have an affirimitive impact.

There is no better designer than nature

- Alexander McQueen

The original Bloor Gladstone library is a heritage property designed in a Renaissance Revival and Italianate style. The original details of the brick building will be preserved including the arched windows and pathways, dome shaped ceilings and the detailed moldings on ceilings and columns. The historical site is a local landmark that continues to play an important part within the community.

history & architecture

The new addition is conceived as having two fundamental elements; a raised glass pavilion with a limestone base as an extension of the existing podium, connecting it to the original site, however the new glass facade addition remains visually separated, allowing both buildings to be expressed individually. The juxtaposition between the old and new is represented in an elegant and complimentary contradiction.
