“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”
That is exactly what Trend45 is, a group of people who share passions, skill sets, creative eyes, and openness. Winter in Michigan is a time where the trees, ground, buildings, and landscapes are covered in glittery white snow, making it perfect for photoshoots and futuristic creative expressions. Trend45 took to the streets of Glen Arbor, MI for Midwinter Manor. Glen Arbor is a bustling town nestled between Sleeping Bear Bay on Lake Michigan and the Glen Lakes. Midwinter Manor kicked off on Friday, February 10th where 70 models, photographers, videographers, bloggers, and artists met at the Homestead Ski Resort for the annual kick off meeting. From there, artists split off into groups to either shoot on the ski and snowboard slopes, inside of cozy rustic cabins, or elegant rooms at the Trend 45 Senior House. There is something very special about the Trend45 group, everyone is welcoming, positive, supportive, and ready for a weekend of content creation and trying new things. Everywhere you looked at the Homestead Resort there were models and photographers shooting concepts and creating unique art. “Anyone want to do a sexy kitchen backing scene at 1:15 p.m.?” said Reili Jean in the Trend 45 group chat. Trend45 is what you make it, you can be anyone you want to be, and freestyle shoot any styles you want to try out. On the last night of the event, Saturday, February 11th , after the natural outdoor light was low, the inaugural Trend45 after-party took place. Artists let lose with a DJ set, dinner, Mead tastings, and night shoots. If you walked upstairs in the Trend45 Senior House, you would witness two models shooting a pink water bomb bathtub set, if you landed in the stairs, you would find two individuals connecting after a few too many cocktails, and if you went downstairs, you would find a lit dance floor with photographers capturing the candid moments. When you leave a Trend45 event, you leave part of a family. You are instantly connected to the private Facebook group and GroupMe group messages where you can easily stay in contact with the new artists you meet. Trend45 participants end up making life long friends, business connections, and even romantic relationships after leaving an event. Stay up to date with all things Trend45 by liking us on Facebook and following us on Instagram. We will only be growing and moving on to bigger, and better things from here and hope for you to be a part of it.

Winter 2018 Fashion Trends As seen on Winter/Fall 2018 Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear Runway Shows PHOTO Austin Speer MODEL Madison Doest
Winter fashion is all about different styles of coats, warm accessories, and layers upon layers making it perfect for putting your unique style into your wardrobe and giving you plenty of options to mix and match. Trend45 artists celebrated their individual style through multitude of trends featuring fun, color, and glamour. We are going to take you into a look of some of the best winter trends that you will see in 2018 that were found on Fashion Week’s 2018 Winter/Fall runway shows. Color: Bright colored faux fur coats, shirts, pants, and skirts will be seen everywhere in winter 2019. There were many early adapters of this trend at Midwinter Manor who were expressing their style with bold colors, mix and match articles, and wintry layers for hitting the ski slopes. Bright colors paired with plaid, animal print, gloss, and leather, are hot right now and will be big this coming winter. Plaid: Plaid is having a major moment right now and will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Plaid used to be more preppy but since, it has taken on more of an edge with it being commonly paired with ripped denim, leather, and fringe, taking the preppy look to sophisticated bad girl.

Mini Accessories: Dainty tiny purses and sunglasses are in this season, which is bad news for those who like to carry around a ridiculous amount of things (like me), but great news for those who like a simplistic look. Mini Bags remind me of the Clueless 90s trend, especially mini backpacks which can be seen in the street style of IT girl celebrities like Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Sami Miro, and Madison Beer. Mini, 90s style sunglasses are also back, killing the over-sized sunglass trend of the 2000s and bringing it back to the 90s matrix vibes. Animal Print: Zebra and leopard print are back in a big way this coming winter season. You can see animal print in designer’s like Balenciaga and Tom Ford. Animal print is fun and is perfect for taking a simple wardrobe and turning it into a head turner. Gloss: Whether its vinyl, leather, or gloss, the shinier the better. Gloss gives your look a cutting edge and instantly transforms your energy to a dramatic feel. Gloss can be found on pants, coats, thigh high boots, belts, bags, shirts, pretty much everything and anything. Leather: Leather will almost always be a staple trend and a safe one to invest in as it always come back in new, innovative ways. For winter 2018, you can see designers dressing their models in head to toe leather. Gone are the days where a little bit of leather was enough, more is better with this 2018 trend.

Cara Hartman, Photographer What do you think so far of your first Trend45 event? I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into it but this has been nothing short of amazing. I have met numerous photographers, and models who want to link up outside of this event and work further in collaboration together. As an emerging photographer, do you have any advice for someone who would want to start getting into this field? Never stop learning. There is always someone you can learn something from, whether they have been doing this for 4 months, or 14 years, everyone has a uniqueness to their craft. What is your dream and your favorite type of concept to shoot? My dream is to shoot for Vogue Magazine one day, that would be the ultimate “you made it” sign. My favorite shoots are definitely lifestyle and high fashion. Ian Pokriefka, Photographer How long have you been practicing photography? I have been practicing photography since I was in Middle School. Once I fell in love with a camera there was no stopping me from there. Since this is your second Trend45 event, what do you hope in getting out of Trend45 events when you come to them? It is the best networking for creatives in Metro Detroit. You leave with real connections and friendships with like-minded photographers, models, bloggers, videographers, and stylists who want to continue a relationship with you outside of Trend45 events. The collaboration and community support it unlike anything else. Do you have any advice for an aspiring photographer? Pick up a camera and just start shooting. Let the photo speak for itself and learn to appreciate different types of photo shoots. What is your favorite time of day to shoot? Definitely mid-day during the golden hour. I think it’s a given for all photographers that this is the best sunlight to shoot in. Brooke Adams, Model How long have you been modeling for? Ive been modeling for about a year and half, definitely more seriously within the last year. What do you love most about modeling? Modeling has helped me come out of my shell and brings out a ton of confidence in myself. This transcends into my everyday life, whether giving a presentation at school, trusting myself, or just general confidence. What advice would you give to someone looking to start modeling? Definitely do your research on who to tie yourself to whether it’s a photographer, brand, agency, or other models. Define what your look is and what you could be branded for and stick to that as much as possible. I also watch a lot of America’s Next Top model which helps for practicing photos, facial expressions, and what to expect in this somewhat cut throat industry.
