HIGH PROFILE STORE
Longsheng Plaza was my first high-profile store while working with the South China Design Team at Starbucks. The Store is located in a large mall with a residents tower. On of the challenges with this store was the equal customer flow rate from two entrances with a large concrete structure in the middle of the store. With the hard structure in the middle of the space we wanted to soften the space with raw materials and large murals that made the column vanish The large curved wall was designed to help the flow of the space and to create a sense of discovery.

The exterior of the store provided us a large curved banner for our design. We knew that the wood blocking was something we wanted to bring into the store so we also brought it out side with large metal blocking. It created great texture for the exterior and captures the eye.

In this view you can see the pour over bar, cafe seating and the large wall murals. Since the wood blocking can come off busy and a little overwhelming so we decided to do a thin knife edge metal shelving so they wouldn’t complete with the wood blocking.

In this view you can see high cafe seating, point of sale and merchandise. We decided the carry the wood blocking to the merchandise wall to keep the flow of the space.

In this view you can see the large murals. With this space we had this large concrete walls that we wanted to soften so we went with these whimsical photos with nature being larger then man. With this space we knew we wanted to bring the concept of nature within the space.

FREITAG FLAGSHIP

SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT
The Freitag Flagship store was my senior capstone project at Washington State University. We partnered up with Callison RTKL and they helped us guide us on retail design. With this project we did a lot of research on the brand, demographic, and we even did field research on shopping behaviors. On of the challenges with this project was incorporating form design into the space. I was inspired with the forms of the underside of a mushroom cap which I saw relations to scaffolding. This was a fun project that incorporated a lot of different elements .

Scaffolding Architectural Element relating to my Form
How does it relate to Freitag? Freitag is a company that is INNOVATIVE and they also are creating more products for their company. Scaffolding is OPEN ENDED it give endless possibilities just like Freitag with so many options with their products. The INDUSTRIAL feel of scaffolding can relate to Freitag as well since when connecting to their costumers through media they always so the factory where their products are made. Scaffolding is DEPENDABLE just like the Freitag products. Page 17

STARBUCKS COFFEE BELT CUSTOM ART
This topographic map is a custom art piece that I designed for on of the South China Stores and is currently under construction. To design this piece I had to do a lot of research on mountain ranges through out the world and their peak points. To design this piece was a combination of Auto Cad, Illustrator and Revit.

BOUNDRY COUNTY PUBLIC EDUCAITONAL LIBRARY BONNERS FERRY, ID RCDI PROJECT GROUP PROJECT As a team, we wanted to design and create a space that reflected the wants and needs of the Bonners Ferry COMMUNITY. The new structure of the building would include three floors featuring the community’s new Fabrication Lab, Makerspace, University of Idaho Business Extension, NIC, and enlarged library. The goal of the new space was to create an OPEN FLOOR PLAN in which individuals could move from space to space, freely EXPLORING new educational opportunities while continuing their own. The site was designed with the intention of being one large “shared space” (THIRD PLACE) where learning, community collaboration, and creativity take place.

SEASONS AUTUMN MALL STARBUCKS GUANDONG, CHINA
HIGH PROFILE RESERVE STORE
Seasons Autumn Mall is a High Profile Reserve Store in Guandong, China. My main task with this project was art work and material choices for this project. One of the biggest challenges for this project was because of the stature of this store their was many opinions on how this project should look like. Since the store is in Autumn Mall we knew we wanted the feel of the store to be warm and comforting with modern and rustic touches.
