3-LAYER QuLOCK® FULL SEAM SEALING

Fabric Construction Our garments are engineered from the highest quality materials to provide superior waterproofness, durability and breathability. Zhik 2-layer shells feature a super soft mesh lining that provides comfort and insulation. Zhik 3-layer shells are unlined and use a 3-layer fabric construction where a thin and highly breathable mesh scrim layer is bonded on the inner side of the membrane improving the waterproof durability and breathability of the fabric whilst also reducing weight and bulk. Waterproofness & Waterproof Durability Hydrostatic (water pressure) testing indicates the amount of pressure that a fabric can withstand before leaking. While it is important to have a high waterproof rating, the waterproof durability of the fabric is also critical, this is the ability of a fabric to maintain this waterproofness after extended use. Zhik has developed its own waterproof durability testing method that is used to test the long term waterproof durability of a textile, this test is specifically designed to simulate wear and tear in wet conditions (when a waterproof membrane is most vulnerable). Zhik waterproof durability testing has shown that Isotak Ocean fabric maintains its waterproofness for over 4x longer than the industry leading ePTFE ocean fabric. Breathability There are many different methods for testing breathability of a fabric. We recommend comparing the vapour resistance (RET) of a fabric as it is a far more accurate method of comparing different materials with different membrane constructions. Moisture vapour permeability data can vary widely depending on the standard used, the type of membrane and whether the membrane or complete laminated fabric is tested, it is therefore not possible to compare different textiles using this standard. Zhik always tests the complete laminated fabric to ensure our products meet our performance requirements *Due to Isotak’s unique multi-layered membrane construction, existing moisture vapour permeability testing standards do not produce comparable data for this fabric. Seam Tape Qulock is a seam taping process where we have thorough quality control checking through every step of the seam taping process from tape production through to finished garment. The Qulock process includes the use of our own proprietary seam tape and reinforcement of critical junctions for further durability in key areas.

Developed to provide extreme levels of weather protection with minimal weight and bulk, Isotak® 2 provides unrivalled levels of flexibility, freedom of movement, comfort and protection. Garment features have been selected to provide the highest levels of comfort and protection with easy to use interfaces specifically designed for extreme conditions. With significant weight and bulk reductions, the Isotak® 2 range is also extremely versatile allowing sailors to use in anything from extreme offshore events through to daytime cruising.

The Zhik designers have achieved remarkable improvements with Isotak Ocean, producing a fabric that is both more comfortable and more durable. There is reduced bulk and weight, with all key features needed for extreme ocean racing included. Isotak Ocean is a multi-layer composite membrane fabric that is 4 times more durable than the market leading ePTFE Ocean fabric. Isotak® Ocean also introduces the new Zhik Qulock™ seam sealing system. The Qulock™ system includes a proprietary seam tape that is carefully tuned to the inner fabric lining to maximise waterproofness. This seam sealing is also applied under strict manufacturing processes, and then every Isotak® Ocean product is pressure tested, so that you can be guaranteed an extremely rugged and durable waterproof seal.

The ZK Seaboot 800 is rapidly becoming the new benchmark for extreme weather protection. The completely sealed neoprene and rubber upper provides 100% waterproof protection and the ZK sole provides superior grip in both wet and dry conditions.

Superthermal™ Hydrobase® is our new proprietary baselayer composite that combines polypropylene and polyester fibres to create a lightweight, warm and highly moisture wicking material. Every innovation known to the Zhik designers was utilised in Superthermal™ HydroBase® to optimise moisture wicking away from the body and also to promote quick drying on the outer fabric surface. The goal was to produce a thermal fabric that outperformed all others available. The Superwarm® superstretch neoprene now includes our fast drying hydrobase inner lining providing extreme thermal insulation and incorporates multiple thicknesses across the body to maximise movement, flexibility and warmth.

FOR HOT CONDITIONS Stay cooler and lighter. Its the combination of materials that makes this gear perform, a combination of nylon spandex panels and thin neoprene knee and butt panels where you need them. UV50+ Nylon spandex is light and cool, while the thin breathable neoprene adds targeted protection to the knee and butt.

All seams are now glued and blind stitched with the addition of a high stretch ultra thin neoprene tape for improved durability and waterproofness.
