Michigan Golfer Magazine Past Issues http://michigangolfer.com/#pastissues Michigan Golfer Television http://michigangolfer.tv Editor: Art McCafferty Associate Editor - Jennie McCafferty ==================== MGN ON THE ROAD ==================== We are wrapping this issue up a little early as we prepare for a Michigan Golfer getaway for the coming week. Scheduled visits include Fieldstone GC in Auburn Hills, Treetops Resort, Thunder Bay Resort, True North and a visit to Everett's at Boyne Mountain for a cold beer. We will report on all next week. Cheers. MG ===================== KIRCHER'S COMMENTS ===================== "Art, thanks for all you do and for your passion for this stuff! Hope it gets the proper number of views! Regards, SK" Yesterday I received the above note from Steve Kircher, President, Boyne Eastern Operations Boyne Resorts, who had just viewed our 100th Michigan Amateur Championship shows http://michigangolfer.tv/2011shows/michigan_amateur/. He had also sent us a similar note in 2001 when we put up our first Michigan Golfer Television video featuring architect Bill Newcomb http://michigangolfer.tv/2001shows/show1/index.html. I remember getting that first note and I was just so happy. Here was our first show on the Internet and one of Michigan's dynamic leaders in golf and skiing had seen it and liked it. Steve Kircher is very cool and so is his wife, Molly. In fact, Molly gave us one of the best quotes we have had in our over 4,000 shows. We were doing an interview with her for our Michigan Travel Channel. Basically, she had just written a history of Boyne and we wanted our viewers to know about the book and Boyne. During the interview, she was asked, "Of all the inventions that Everett Kircher was responsible for, what was your favorite. "What's my favorite Everett Kircher invention? I would have to say Stephen Kircher. http://michigantravel.tv/2010boyne_book/molly_kircher.mov. We appreciated Kircher's note and as reported last week, we have produced over 4,000 Internet television shows for our seven channels in the past ten years. We have averaged almost a show a day during the past decade. As far as total views, it is a bit hard telling. We just celebrated our 1,000,000 You Tube viewer and we began putting those shows up in 2007, six years after our first golf show. An educated and conservative figure would be upwards of 6,000,000 viewers since we started in 2001. Our claim to fame is being the first Internet Television Network in the World. Circa June of 2001. Cheers to our viewers.

============================================================================ SHANTY CREEK RESORTS TO HOST INAUGURAL MICHIGAN PRO-AM GOLF TOURNAMENT ============================================================================ Golf professionals and talented amateurs from the U.S. and Canada will congregate in this small Northern Michigan town this fall for a new Michigan Pro-Am Tournament. The 54-hole event is scheduled for Sept. 7-11 on three championship courses at Shanty Creek Resorts. It’s being organized by The Golf Connection, an international golf promotion group that conducts similar tourneys in Jamaica, St. Kitts, and Cancun, which has signed a three-year contract with Shanty Creek. In a pro-am tournament, teams consisting of one PGA Pro and three amateurs compete against one another. Over the three days of the tournament, teams will compete on Tom Weiskopf’s Cedar River Golf Club, Arnold Palmer’s The Legend, and finally at the Schuss Mountain Golf Club, which combines tight fairways with exhilarating elevation changes. The tournament is open to a maximum of 30 teams, although Jaronski is realistically projecting a field of eight to 10 teams for a first-year event. Golfers who need to partner up with a club professional can arrange pairings with the Michigan PGA, which is actively recruiting pros to play. “Our members are proud of what our state has to offer,” said Michigan PGA director Kevin Helm, “and look forward to the opportunity to host and participate with amateur players coming to experience golf in northern Michigan." Tournament packages http://www.michiganproam.com for more details. Taken an edited from a Traverse City Convention & Visitors Bureau Mike Norton release =============================== GAM AND BOYNE - TAKE A BOW =============================== We spent so much time creating four shows on the 100th Michigan Amateur, we didn't get to properly congratulate the GAM and Boyne for the very classy event they staged. For those that missed our contributions to the event you can see our four videos at http://michigangolfer.tv/2011shows/michigan_amateur/ ============================================================ UPCOMING MICHIGAN GOLFER TELEVISION SHOWS NEXT WEEK ============================================================ The Treetops Cup - We are excited to bring to you this latest event from the fertile mind of Kevin McKinley. This is the third straight year the event has grown. The American and Canadian teams are posed for their third battle. and over 4,000 viewers have visited it. It is time to revisit this revered golf instructor. Thunder Bay Resort - We will stop by and see what Jack Matthias has going on at Thunder Bay Resort, which features golf, quilting, elk viewing and all kinds of interesting things for summer vacation goers. =================================================== MICHIGAN GOLFER MAGAZINE ONLINE SUMMER ISSUE http://michigangolfer.com =================================================== Table of Contents Memorable Masters - By Jack Berry Impressions of the 100th Michigan Amateur - By Terry Moore Collegiate Golf : Eastern Michigan University Eagles - By Chris Lewis Stephanie Kin Wins Island Resort Championship - By Lisa Mickey Northern Indiana Golf - By Mike Duff Michigan Golf Hall of Fame: Class of 2011 Collegiate Golf - University of Detroit Mercy Titans - By Chris Lewis ============================= TEE IT FOWARD IS LAUNCHED ============================= Over the next few weeks, golf facilities nationwide will be encouraging you and millions of other golfers to have more fun on the course and potentially play a little faster. By using tees best suited to your ability, you can discover why TEE IT FORWARD just might be the game for you. The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association strongly support TEE IT FORWARD because we care about the game and we want you to enjoy it even more. The neat thing about TEE IT FORWARD is that you can do it anytime and on any course. It's really simple: Play the right tees for you. Play faster. Have more fun. Golfers are asked to provide feedback on http://PlayGolfAmerica.com/TEEITFORWARD to help direct the future planning of the initiative. A sweepstakes will be conducted of all eligible persons who submit comments prior to July 17, 2011. One Grand Prize winner will receive a stay-and-play package for four at Kiawah Island (S.C.) Golf Resort. One runner-up will receive two tickets to the 2012 U.S. Open Championship and a second runner-up will receive two tickets to the 2012 PGA Championship. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. You push for higher taxes so the government can provide cows for everyone. REPUBLICAN You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So? SOCIALIST You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow. COMMUNIST You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour. CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows. BUREAUCRACY, CANADIAN STYLE You have two cows. Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pour the milk down the drain. AMERICAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses. Your stock goes up. FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch and drink wine. Life is good. JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains. Most are at the top of their class at cow school. P. 8

GERMAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year. ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch. Life is good. RUSSIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You drink some vodka. You count them and learn you have five cows. You drink some more vodka. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have. TALIBAN CORPORATION You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which are two. You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature' s private parts. You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons. IRAQI CORPORATION You have two cows. They go into hiding.. They send radio tapes of their mooing. POLISH CORPORATION You have two bulls. Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them. BELGIAN CORPORATION You have one cow. The cow is schizophrenic. Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish. The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow. The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk. The cow asks permission to be cut in half. The cow dies happy. FLORIDA CORPORATION You have a black cow and a brown cow. Everyone votes for the best looking one. Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one. Some people vote for both.

Some people vote for neither. Some people can't figure out how to vote at all. Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best looking cow. CALIFORNIA CORPORATION You have millions of cows. They make real California cheese. Only five speak English. Most are illegal. Arnold likes the ones with the big udders.
