First Snowfall Totals For 2017
By Catherine Galioto The January 7 snowstorm hit parts of the area with as much as 9 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS numbers show areas such as Lacey, Barnegat and
Stafford as having the highest inch count. Statewide, the record went to Port Norris in Cumberland County, with 10 inches. Ahead of the storm, local offices of emergency ma nagement for Ocean County and
towns such as Berkeley, Brick and Tuckerton all issued alerts, ranging from slick road conditions, to plowing notices, to asking residents to remove parked vehicles from side streets. Check out the unofficial snow total. How

Labor Counsel Appointment Pulled From Agenda
By Jennifer Peacock JACKSON – The resolution to hire a former Christie-appointed Superior Court judge was pulled from the agenda during the January 3 reorganization meeting. Melanie Donohue Appleby was to be appointed labor counsel by a resolution on that meeting’s agenda. Clerk Ann Marie Eden told The Jackson Times in an email on January 5 that it was Mayor Michael Reina and his administration that requested it be pulled. “I would like to let
the audience know that resolution 010R-17 has been removed f rom this evening’s agenda,” Jackson Township Clerk Ann Marie Eden said at the reorganization meeting, adding the resulotion would be addressed at a later date. A resolution can be pulled for any number of reasons. However, it is unk nown what the exact reasons are in this case.
