By Sara Grillo JACKSON – Motorcyclists braved tornado warnings and early morning rain, but ended up with a great turnout for this year’s Motorcycle Ride & BBQ on June 24. The Jackson Elks hosted this year’s event, but it’s a collaboration between many local Elks – including Brick, Bay ville,
Toms River, Freehold, Lacey and Manahawkin – who are all part of the New Jersey State Elks Veterans Committee. The event is a yearly one, offering more than just great food, live music and camaraderie, but a fundraiser that goes toward helping local homeless veterans. Hoarding Rescue Leads To 17 Shelter Puppies
By Sara Grillo JACKSON – A recent animal hoarding situation that led to over 30 cats and dogs being rescued from a home led to even more wagging tails – when it was discovered that three of the rescued dogs were pregnant. “This is what happens in many of these hoarder cases, people start out with good intentions but things can get overwhelming real quick,” said Daniel E. Regenye, Coordinator for the Ocean Coun-
ty Health Department in a press release. “When that happens, the animal facilities typically become the only option.” Ocean County Animal Facilities, which has shelters in Jackson and Manahawkin, took in the animals and said that the three dogs have since given birth to three litters, which produced 17 loveable puppies in all shades of black, brown and white.
