By Sara Grillo HOWELL – From Jersey to L.A. and back again, Kevin Interdonato is a local movie star about to release his newest hit, which he stars in alongside Hollywood veteran Tom Sizemore, former boxing champion Ray “Boom-Boom” Mancini and Kevin O’Halloran of Clerks fame. Interdonato said he always knew he wanted to act. “Growing up in Howell I always wanted to be an actor, I just wasn’t ready yet. I had to get a lot out of my system.” That meant growing up working in the family construction business, which his dad still runs, joining the Army National Guard his senior year at Howell High School and taking a couple semesters at Brookdale Community College. He started to study acting when he was 20, but had to hit the brakes in 2004 when he was called to a year-long tour of duty in Iraq. He served in a unit nicknamed “The Sadr City Dogs,” named for Sadr (Movie - See Page 15)
Brick Serves Up New Tennis Courts By Chris Lundy BRICK – Six new tennis courts were installed at Forge Pond near the municipal building on Chambers Bridge Road. The courts opened in May, according to Ed Moroney, Brick’s public information officer. The reconstruction had begun last fall. The project cost $655,773, he said. It was done by Classic Turf Company, Woodbury, CT. It was funded through the township’s 2015 capital program. The courts are open for public play unless there are permits issued for the courts and during high school practices and matches.

Filippone Named Acting Superintendent
By Judy Smestad-Nunn BRICK – Former Brick High School Principal Dennis Filippone was named as the district’s Acting Superintendent for the 2017-2018 school year since the current superintendent, Walter Uszenski, was recently re-indicted for official misconduct and theft by deception. Those charges had been dismissed by a judge in March, but the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office re-presented evidence and a grand jury decided to re-indict him on the charges. –Photo by Thomas Gialanella Judy Smestad-Nunn has been the interim superintendent since Former Brick High School February 2016, but he Principal Dennis Filippone was may only serve as the named Acting Superintendent (Filippone - See Page 5) for the 2017-2018 school year.
