In the Usa, an undergraduate or an "undergrad" is just a student pursuing a bachelor's-degree (generally 4 years) at a college or university or even a 2-year affiliate's degree plan at a faculty, community college or vocational/technical institution. A graduate or even a "grad student" can be a student who, having obtained a bachelor's degree, is now using a masteries or " degree " .
Because the terminology in much of the rest of the planet is not same these ideas tend to be confused. What's called undergraduate studies in America is known as studies generally in most other places.
