The Haley Memorial Library and History Center, preserves the history of Texas and the American Southwest through thousands of books, original interviews and records, art and artifacts, that forever tell the story of Texas’ heritage. It houses one of the largest collections on Billy the Kid as well as a bell from the Alamo. As you tour Midland, you will travel back some 230 million years ago as you journey through a unique marine diorama and oil history at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. Visitors will learn not only how oil is formed, but the fascinating history of how the industry has progressed and what it has meant to the Permian Basin.
