here are a lot of things that make the new lineup of 2011 vehicles unique. They’re more efficient. They’re more powerful. They’re more practical for families.
But, above all else, the one trait they all share is an intense focus on creating a good value. No matter what type of 2011 model you’re looking for — from fuelsipping compact cars to high-end luxury cruisers and pickup trucks — today’s vehicles are more focused than ever before on providing a good value for the buyer. This is partially because of the global economic problems a couple of years ago, which made buyers more picky about how they spend their money, but it’s also because of increased competition in many of the most popular automotive segments. Crossover vehicles and pickups have seen especially intense competition lately, which means the manufacturers are offering more features, refinement and incentives to set their vehicles apart from the pack. And that means it’s a great time to be a new car buyer. Here are four reasons why:
1. More refined vehicles In the past few years, the automotive industry has made huge leaps in terms of refinement and technology. Even if your car is just a couple of years old, a quick test drive in a 2011 model will show you just how quiet, efficient and solid today’s new cars have become.
2. Low-interest financing Interest rates remain some of the lowest on record, which means financing your new vehicle can be surprisingly cheap. Many experts predict rising interest rates in the years to come, so your dream car may be more attainable if you buy it now rather than waiting.
3. Better technology Performance, comfort and safety in today’s new cars are all enhanced by better technology. From cooled seats and back-up cameras to sophisticated airbags and stability control systems, the latest car tech will blow you away.
4. A focus on efficiency Not only are new cars better for the environment — they emit less carbon and pollution than older cars — but they can also save you money at the gas pump. Manufacturers are offering more fuel-efficient cars this year that can save you a fortune over the life of the vehicle.

hen it comes to nearly effortless driving, with the comfort, convenience and quietness expected of a premium full-size sedan, the Buick Lucerne delivers on all fronts. It also uses advanced technology to enhance safety, with available features including Side Blind Zone Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Updates for 2011 include the addition of a USB port to the center console on five-passenger models, as well as standard StabiliTrak with full-function traction control on all models and two new radio systems on five-passenger models. The new radios include an AM/FM stereo with a USB port, auxiliary input jack, CD player and MP3 playback; and a radio system with similar features integrated with the available navigation system. That radio is controlled via the system's six-inch touchscreen.
POWERTRAINS Powering Lucerne CX, CXL and EXL models is a responsive, FlexFuel-capable 3.9L V-6 engine. It delivers an SAE-certified 227 horsepower and 237 lb.-ft. of torque. Lucerne Super is powered by a 4.6L Northstar V-8 engine that is rated at 292 horsepower and 288 lb.ft. of torque. The 4.6L V-8 is paired with GM’s electronically controlled Hydra-Matic 4T80 four-speed automatic

All Lucerne engines feature electronic throttle control to seamlessly match driver input with engine response while maximizing overall fuel efficiency.
OPTION PACKAGES For simplicity, only two option packages are offered: the Comfort & Convenience package and the Driver Confidence Package. The
Comfort & Convenience package adds dual-zone, automatic climate control, universal home remote, Bluetooth phone (available with OnStar) and a cargo net. This package is standard on Lucerne CXL, EXL and Super models and is available on Lucerne CX. The Driver Confidence package adds rear parking assist, remote start and theft-deterrent system. It is standard on Lucerne CXL, EXL and Super models and available on CX models.

It is designed to significantly reduce, block and absorb unwanted road, wind and powertrain noise with the goal of providing leading levels of interior cabin quietness. It starts with a stiff body structure, extremely tight body gap tolerances and an extensive wind-sealing sys-
tem. Buick then adds notable QuietTuning features, including laminated side glass in all four moving passenger door windows; noise-reducing outside rearview mirrors; lower profile “structureless” windshield wipers with a flexible airfoil surface; a “doubleisolated” powertrain mounting system; laminated steel and composite nylon baffles in the roof pillars, rocker panels and cross-car structures; composite wheel housing liners, and more. Lucerne’s body structure is engineered to provide maximum occupant protection under a wide range of impact conditions. Active safety and handling features offered on Lucerne include a four-channel anti-lock braking system and traction control; an auto-leveling rear suspension that automatically adjusts the vehicle height for heavy loads; and four-channel StabiliTrak electronic stability control with brake assist, which senses emergency braking situations and boosts the power as needed. All Lucerne models have six standard air bags: a dual-stage driver front air bag, side-impact thorax air bags, roof-rail curtain air bags and the segment’s only dual depth front passenger air bag. The dual depth air bag can deploy in two different shapes and pressures – depending upon crash impact, seat belt usage and seat position. Working with other front passenger safety features, such as a weightbased occupant detection system, the dual depth air bag deploys in one of two different sizes.

T
he Ford Fusion has been a huge hit, the No. 1-selling domestic car in 2009 thanks to distinctive features, smart technology and exceptional quality and satisfaction ratings. And, since Fusion offers something for everyone – a Hybrid model that’s America’s most fuel-efficient midsize sedan, a Sport version and a selection of gaspowered engines paired with six-speed transmissions – there’s no reason for midsize sedan shoppers to look anywhere else. Fresh off its record-breaking 2010 run, Fusion enters the 2011 model year with even more safety, technology and convenience offerings, including MyKey, available rain-sensing wipers and HD Radio. Integrated blind-spot mirrors have been added to cars without the optional Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®), and the award-winning Ford SYNC® communications and infotainment system can now be integrated with the available touchscreen voice-activated navigation system. New equipment groups include an available Luxury Package with either a Ginger or Charcoal Black interior environment. Both envelop the driver in premium leather trim with contrast stitching, unique dash and center stack finishes, machined aluminum pedals and illuminated door sills. An available Comfort Package adds driver and passenger heated seats,
(EPAS), improving the driving dynamics while delivering fuel savings since the steering system is operated by the electrical system rather than the engine. Additionally, EPAS provides customers with precise steering feel and minimal low-speed effort that makes parking a cinch. Fusion’s front anti-roll bar and rear suspension link geometry help ensure confident steering, handling and ride. The suspension elements have been tuned to take full advantage of EPAS. Complementing Fusion’s steering, handling and brake feel, wind noise and road noise control help make the cockpit a relaxing, pleasant environment in which to spend time.
HYBRID The popular and critically acclaimed Ford Fusion enters the 2011 model year with more features, comfort and technology. ambient lighting, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, dual-zone automatic temperature control and heated mirrors with puddle lamps.
DESIGN usion’s exterior design gives the car a sporty, upscale appearance along with aerodynamics that help reduce wind noise and improve fuel economy. The car’s front end sports a powerfully domed hood and aggressive grille, while underbody treatments fur-
ther boost Fusion’s fuel economy. Overall, Fusion is designed to appeal to customers eager for a fun-todrive midsize sedan. With all models, the interior design team created a contemporary, technical look with metallic finishes on the instrument panel that carry through on the center console, doors and steering wheel. The instrument panel is finished with a soft upper and lower skin, and instrument panel displays and switches glow with a contemporary ice blue lighting.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter, and wrapped and padded armrests increase Fusion’s sportiness and comfort at all key driver touchpoints. The seats offer ample side support along with contrast stitching and leather inserts on select models.
POWERTRAINS The Fusion 2.5-liter I-4 engine offers an EPA-estimated 34 mpg highway with 175 horsepower and 172 ft.lb. of torque. Also available is the proven Duratec® 30
3.0-liter V-6 engine producing 240 horsepower and 222 ft.-lb. of torque, along with flex-fuel capability. Using E85 ethanol, the 3.0-liter V-6 can produce up to 250 horsepower. For maximum performance, the Fusion Sport features a 3.5-liter V-6 that has 263 horsepower and 249 ft.lb. of torque delivered with regular unleaded fuel.
DYNAMICS The 2011 Fusion is equipped with Electric Power Assist Steering
The popular Fusion Hybrid uses a powertrain system that combines the best attributes of the gasoline engine and electric battery-driven motors to deliver an optimal experience for the customer in terms of driving performance and fuel economy. The propulsion system transitions between gas and electric power efficiently and seamlessly. Ford Fusion Hybrid can operate up to 47 mph in pure electric mode, approximately twice as fast as some competitors. Plus, the city driving range on a single tank of gas is more than 700 miles.

Smart, solid and sleek
yundai recently introduced its allnew 2011 Sonata, which marks the North American debut of the latest version of the popular midsize sedan. It also introduces Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design language and an all four-cylinder engine lineup to the U.S. market. The 2011 Sonata represents a modern approach to the traditional midsize sedan segment by using only advanced four-cylinder engines, emotional design and luxury features offered with Hyundai’s strong value proposition. The 2011 Sonata poses some intriguing questions: Why can’t a smart, solid sedan also have modern, sleek, sophisticated style? Why pay so much to get a taste of luxury? Why can’t an efficient four-cylinder engine give V6 power?
FLUIDIC SCULPTURE Fluidic Sculpture is a consistent, cohesive design language that will ripple through the entire Hyundai showroom. In developing the initial Sonata sketches, Hyundai designers considered the interplay of natural, fluid elements with more rigid surfaces and structures to create the illusion of constant motion. Inspired by nature, Fluidic Sculpture injects sophistication and dynamic angles into the
manual transaxle. Drivers can access the SHIFTRONIC feature by moving the gear selector into a separate gate. Pushing the selector forward or pulling it rearward will shift the transmission up or down sequentially, adding to driver control.

Hyundai’s new 2011 Sonata proves affordable, efficient cars can also by sleek and sophisticated. shape of a vehicle and now serves as the core of Hyundai’s future design identity. The exterior of the allnew Sonata is long, light and low. The high beltline allows for a long, sleek roofline accented by the third window. The face is bold with a large powerful chrome grille and headlamps that integrate precise details. The sleek design, combined with Hyundai’s expertise in interior packaging, has produced an interior that delivers class-leading comfort, functionality and
practicality. A sleek roofline typically compromises headroom and interior volume but, at 120.2 cubic feet, the Sonata has the most interior volume of its key competitors. It is so spacious, Sonata continues to be classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a Large car, truly a “class above” Camry, Altima, Fusion and Malibu (all are categorized as Midsize cars). Even in trunk room, the Sonata shines. Sonata’s 16.4 cu. ft. of trunk space gives it a 9.3 percent advantage over the Camry,
and a 17.1 percent advantage over Accord.
ADVANCED POWERTRAINS The new Sonata launches with Hyundai’s new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a Gasoline Direct-Injection (GDI) fuel delivery system, which contributes to improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Sonata is the first midsize sedan to adopt GDI technology as standard equipment in a naturally aspirated power-
tain. This shorter, more direct path of fuel delivery, allows for greater control of the fuel mixture at the optimum moment, thus improving efficiency. Sonata delivers an impressive 22 mpg city/35 mpg highway fuel economy rating with the available sixspeed automatic transmission. Hyundai’s commitment to making the Sonata extremely fuel efficient continues with a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control or a standard six-speed
An advanced four-wheel independent suspension system combines a supple ride with precise handling and steering response for Sonata GLS and Limited models. Sonata uses MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension systems with increased travel for improved wheel control and a smoother ride. The Sonata SE is an even more exciting and willing partner for drivers who prefer sportier ride and handling dynamics. The sporttuned suspension features stiffer springs and larger stabilizer bars, resulting in a 20 percent increase in roll stiffness.
SAFETY Sonata is built from the ground up with safety in mind, with a hot stamped ultra-high-strength steel body structure, advanced airbag technology and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), delivering on Hyundai’s commitment to both active and passive safety technology leadership.

he all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee made its world debut recently. Jeep's all-new premium SUV features an athletic design, an all-new worldclass interior, an all-new engine and legendary Jeep capability. Nearly 18 years ago, Jeep invented the premium SUV segment with the introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. More than 4 million sales later, Jeep improves the formula and hits the sweet spot of realworld capability and onroad refinement with the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers premium on-road performance while maintaining the Jeep brand’s legendary fourwheel-drive, torque-ondemand two-speed transfer case and unsurpassed towing capability. It also offers improved fuel economy (up to 11 percent) and a worldclass interior cabin. “We listened carefully to our customers and the market,” said Scott Kunselman, Vice President – Jeep/Truck Product Team, Chrysler LLC. “Our all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee hits the sweet spot of premium onroad performance and legendary class-leading Jeep capability.” The all-new Quadra-Lift air suspension system delivers legendary Jeep off-road capability along with the new Selec-Terrain system that allows the driver to choose the drive system
uses Throttle Anticipate to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximizes traction before slippage occurs. When tire slippage is detected, as much as 100 percent of available torque is instantly routed to the axle with the most traction. Quadra Drive II, with a rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (ELSD), delivers industry-leading tractive capability. The system instantly detects tire slip and smoothly distributes engine torque to tires with traction. In some cases, the vehicle will anticipate low traction and adjust in order to proactively limit or eliminate slip.
INTERIOR The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the legendary off-road performance of a Jeep in a luxurious package. that best matches on- or off-road driving conditions. New front and rear independent suspension systems deliver premium onroad handling and comfort. The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is built on a proven rear-wheel-drive unibody platform sharing the same underpinnings as the Mercedes-Benz ML. “Jeep invented the SUV segment and our all-new Grand Cherokee is the next step in the evolution of the SUV,” said Mike Accavitti, Director – Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge Brands. “Jeep
innovations including Quadra-Lift air suspension and Selec-Terrain traction control separate us from the crowd.”
QUADRA-LIFT The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee offers the new Quadra-Lift air suspension system. The Quadra-Lift system features five height settings for optimum ride performance. Quadra-Lift adds up to 4.5 inches of lift span that is supported by four-corner air springs that provide a
cushioned, premium ride. Quadra-Lift operates automatically, or may be controlled manually via console controls. In addition to the Quadra-Lift air suspension, the all-new Selec-Terrain™ traction control system lets customers choose the offroad setting for the optimum experience on all terrains.
4X4 SYSTEMS The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers three 4x4 systems (Quadra-Trac I,
Quadra-Trac II and QuadraDrive II). Quadra Trac I delivers full-time four-wheel drive without any switches or levers to pull. The system provides smooth operation over a variety of road conditions. This lightweight single-speed case is both proven and highly efficient for enhanced fuel economy. Quadra Trac II’s twospeed transfer case uses input from a variety of sensors in order to determine tire slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action. The system
The all-new interior is elevated to that of its European competition and features rich materials and elegant appointments, as well as more room for both passengers and cargo. “Following in the footsteps of our all-new 2009 Dodge Ram, our all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee is another proud graduate of our Advanced Interior Design Studio,” said Ralph Gilles, Vice President – Design. “We achieved a world-class interior by using fine materials and maintaining a laser-attention to details.” An available all-new CommandView dual-pane sun roof provides twice as much glass surface than a standard sun roof.
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers premium on-road performance while maintaining the Jeep brand’s legendary four-wheel-drive, torque-ondemand two-speed transfer case and unsurpassed towing capability. It also offers improved fuel economy and a worldclass interior cabin.

GOING ELECTRIC
DON’T WANT TO USE GAS? YOU DON’T HAVE TO IN 2011
I
t’s long been a dream of environmentalists, and it’s finally becoming a reality in 2011. Chevrolet and Nissan will be rolling out the first mass-market electric vehicles as 2011 models, and they each have a drastically different take on what an electric car should be. Here’s a look at both of them:
CYAN
MAGENTA
YELLOW
BLACK
2011 CHEVY VOLT
RANGE: 40 miles electric, 300 miles using supplemental gas tank CHARGING: Can charge on standard 120-volt outlet at home; 4,400 buyers to get free 240-volt charging station BASE PRICE: $41,000 Chevrolet’s 2011 Volt is getting lots of attention because it’s an electric car without compromises. Unlike a pure electric vehicle, which would simply stop moving once its batteries run out of juice, the Volt has a small gas engine that can keep providing an electric charge to extend the range if necessary. Unlike a hybrid, the Volt never uses its gasoline engine to directly drive the wheels. It just generates electricity for electric motors to drive the wheels. Realistically, most people will rarely go beyond the Volt’s 40-mile range in pure electric mode. That’s plenty for everyday driving. But on those occasions when you need to take a long trip down the highway, you’ll be able to stop and get gas just like in an ordinary car. It’s designed to be the best of both worlds.
2011 NISSAN LEAF
RANGE: 100 miles CHARGING: Eight hours on 200-volt outlet at home; 30 minutes with a quick charger BASE PRICE: $32,780 The Leaf is a much simpler car than the Volt, which makes it more affordable. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a gas engine that can provide electricity to extend the range when needed. Styling is also more futuristic on the Leaf, making it look like the revolutionary electric vehicle that it is. It looks like something out of “The Jetsons.” One of the challenges of building an all-electric car is that pedestrians won’t hear it coming. It doesn’t have engine noise like a normal car, so Nissan’s engineers came up with two special sounds it makes when going in forward or reverse. Perhaps the best thing about the Leaf is its price, starting at $32,780. After a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 — which is also available for the Volt, by the way — the total cost of the vehicle will come in around $25,000, which makes it affordable for more families.

2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE
Midsize presence in a compact T
he 2011 Chevrolet Cruze delivers segment-leading features and details that challenge preconceived notions about what a compact car can be in North America. The Cruze also affirms Chevrolet’s commitment to building refined, fuel-efficient vehicles using new, small-displacement, fourcylinder engines. It is expected to deliver segment-leading fuel economy with a new Ecotec 1.4L I-4 turbo with variable valve timing – including up to 40 mpg on the highway with the Cruze Eco model. “Cruze is already a hit across Europe and Asia. Now it’s coming to America to challenge the status quo,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet marketing “Along with the Volt electric vehicle, Cruze is the latest tangible example of how Chevrolet is working to bring new products to market that range from gasfriendly to gas-free.” Leveraging Chevrolet’s design and engineering talent in Asia, Europe and North America, the Cruze brings a progressive, globally influenced design complemented by exceptional levels of quietness, quality and attention to detail – from precise tolerances between body panels to the use of premium materials throughout the interior.
LINEUP All models share an interior characterized by premi-
over to the interior, where Chevrolet's hallmark twincockpit motif is matched with high-quality materials and exceptional assembly tolerances. Grained, softtouch components and lowgloss trim panels exude a quality that is uncommon in the segment. The instrument panel is an excellent example of how Cruze eschews expectations of compact cars. It features richly detailed instruments that are backlit with lightemitting diode (LED) technology. The LED lights provide a crisp, ice-blue illumination of the analog instruments, as well as lighting for other interior controls. A segment-rare standard driver information center delivers a wealth of data to the vehicle driver.
ENGINES The all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze delivers the performance and refinement of a sophisticated car in a compact package. um materials and a lengthy roster of unexpected equipment, including leading infotainment. A stereo system that includes MP3 playback capability, six speakers and an auxiliary jack for personal playback devices are standard. A premium nine-speaker Pioneer sound system is available, as is a USB port for iPod operation. Other available technologies include Bluetooth and a navigation system. “There’s a lot of content in all Cruze models; it was designed to give customers the features they want
regardless of the car’s size or segment,” said Brooks. A sporty RS appearance package is available on LT and LTZ trim levels, enhancing their styling with unique fascias, rocker moldings, rear spoiler and fog lamps.
DESIGN Chevy Cruze’s design is distinguished with a bold face – including a two-tier grille with the iconic Bowtie logo – that is Chevrolet’s signature look around the globe. An arch-
ing roofline connects a steeply raked windshield and fast-sloping rear pillars to give the car a sporty, coupe-like proportion. The sporty aesthetic is also seen in prominent headlamp housings that wrap around the corners and sweep upward in the fenders and sculpted hood, as well as a short rear deck typically found on sport coupes. The wheels are at the corners, too, with minimal front and rear overhangs. All the elements work cohesively
to give Cruze an aggressive look that is complemented by a wide, confident-looking stance. Indeed, the Cruze is wider and longer than most of its competitors. Taut, tightly drawn bodywork conveys solidity, while restrained use of exterior trim enhances the car’s high-quality feel. The overall appearance is one of purposeful precision.
INTERIOR Cruze’s bold design cues and attention to detail carry
Enhanced with its exhaust-driven turbocharger, the Cruze’s Ecotec 1.4L turbo performs like a larger engine when needed, but retains the efficiency of a small-displacement four-cylinder in most driving conditions. It is standard on Eco, LT and LTZ models, with power ratings estimated at 138 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque. An Ecotec 1.8L four-cylinder – standard on LS models – offers many of the same features of the 1.4L, including full variable valve timing that optimizes performance and fuel economy across the rpm band.
“Cruze is already a hit across Europe and Asia. Now it’s coming to America to challenge the status quo. Along with the Volt electric vehicle, Cruze is the latest tangible example of how Chevrolet is working to bring new products to market that range from gas-friendly to gas-free.”

TRUCK INNOVATIONS
TODAY’S PICKUPS ARE BEING IMPROVED AT A RAPID PACE

f you’re a buyer, competition is a great thing. It means multiple companies are fighting for your business, trying to offer you more features for a lower price. And in the automotive industry, nowhere has competition had a more dramatic effect recently than in the market for pickup trucks. Today’s pickups are being redesigned at a faster rate than ever before, adding features, performance and refinement with each model year to keep them competitive. Even if your truck is only a couple of years old, a quick test drive can show exactly how far the new 2011 models have come in a short period of time. Why are all these improvements coming so quickly? It’s simple: new competitors.
BACKGROUND
Years ago, if you wanted a truck in America, you essentially had three choices: Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Foreign competitors that had been so successful in the car market had largely left the
truck market untouched because they didn’t have any full-size, full-featured pickups available. Today, though, Nissan and Toyota have both entered the mix in a big way with their Titan and Tundra models. The American market is still dominated by the domestic brands — Ford, Chevy and Dodge have a decades-long head start, after all — but the new competitors mean they have to move more quickly to stay relevant in a suddenly crowded market. You can see the result in today’s trucks. They’re being redesigned at a fast clip, just like new cars, and they’re adding luxury features, smart technology and better performance as they fight in a fast-changing horsepower war. Don’t believe it? Then visit a local dealer to see for yourself.

Acadia gets new Denali model

A
new, premium Denali model joins the GMC Acadia lineup for 2011, adding a new dimension of luxury and exclusivity to this popular crossover. It brings the distinctive Denali design elements, including a chrome honeycomb grille and monochromatic exterior color cues, along with exclusive fascias, high-intensity discharge headlamps and unique interior features. “The GMC Denali models have come to stand for luxury and exclusivity, and that’s just what customers will get in the new Acadia Denali,” said Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director. “The decision to develop an Acadia Denali was made quickly within the new GM in response to customer and dealer demand for a Denali version ever since the launch and success of the Acadia.” Indeed, the Acadia continues to win over customers. In a still-recovering market, Acadia sales were up nearly 45 percent in the first quarter of 2010, making it second in brand sales to only the broad Sierra range of trucks. In addition to the new Acadia Denali, the Acadia is offered in two cloth trims, SL and SLE, and leather trims designated SLT1 and SLT2. All models are available in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive with seven- or eight-passenger seating configurations. A comprehensive safety system includes six standard
seating area. The secondrow seat cushion flips up while the seatback slides forward, effectively compressing the space occupied by the seat with the pull of a lever. The Smart Slide system also allows the second row to be positioned fore/aft. When adjusted rearward, the second-row seat provides more legroom for taller passengers; when adjusted forward, it provides more storage space or additional legroom for third-row passengers. Seating space is sufficient for adults in all positions.

GMC’s Acadia crossover gets a luxurious new Denali model added to its lineup for 2011. air bags and standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control and rollover mitigation technology.
AT A GLANCE Acadia’s body-frame integral structure enables lower entry/exit height for passengers. Despite the vehicle’s SUV-like front-end height, the front door step-in height is only 18.9 inches; the rear door step-in height is 19.8 inches. Entry to the secondand third-row seats is easy with very wide rear doors
and GM’s exclusive Smart Slide second-row seat feature. All models are powered by a 3.6L V-6 VVT engine that uses gasoline direct injection technology to optimize performance and fuel economy. The engine is paired with Acadia’s fuelsaving six-speed automatic transmission to help give FWD models an EPA-estimated 24 mpg on the highway. The Acadia also is capable of towing up to 5,200 pounds when properly equipped. Acadia’s interior exudes
refinement and attention to detail, with many thoughtful features designed into a finely crafted environment. A car-like “low and away” instrument panel enhances the feeling of openness in the front-row seats and provides a commanding outward view. The instrument panel and other interior elements feature high-quality, low-gloss materials and tight gap tolerances.
SEATING All Acadia models offer three rows of seating that
can be configured for seven or eight passengers, regardless of the trim level. The seating configurations include two front bucket seats, a 60/40-split secondrow bench (three passengers) or two second-row captain’s chairs (two passengers) and a 60/40-split thirdrow bench seat. Generous storage space of 24.1 cu. ft. is available behind the third-row seat. GM’s exclusive Smart Slide feature is standard on all second-row configurations, allowing quick and easy access to the third-row
Acadia’s 360-degree safety system helps protect passengers before, during and after a crash. A strong structure is the foundation, while a wide stance and low center of gravity helps reduce the likelihood of a rollover. Acadia’s structure is reinforced in numerous areas with high-strength steel, including a stiff steel crosscar beam welded across the floor between the B-pillars. Acadia is equipped with six standard air bags: two dual-stage frontal air bags for the driver and front passenger; two seat-mounted side-impact air bags in the first row; and two head curtain side-impact air bags that cover all three seating rows. The head curtain side air bags are among the longest air bags in any production vehicle.
“The GMC Denali models have come to stand for luxury and exclusivity, and that’s just what customers will get in the new Acadia Denali. The decision to develop an Acadia Denali was made quickly within the new GM in response to customer and dealer demand for a Denali version ever since the launch and success of the Acadia.”

adillac has unveiled the 2011 CTS Coupe, the latest and most dramatic of the brand’s series of new designs to reach production. It is a new luxury sports coupe designed to become the centerpiece of the brand’s revised lineup. “CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities,” said Don Butler, Vice President – Cadillac Marketing. “It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts.” The Coupe joins the CTS Sport Sedan, the 556-horsepower (415 kW) CTS-V and new CTS Sport Wagon as the foundation of Cadillac’s lineup. A high-performance V-Series edition of the Coupe will also be released in 2010. The CTS Coupe’s design carries over virtually unchanged from the concept car that was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 2008. The Coupe is a classic 2+2 layout bolstered with advanced technology, such as a rear-view camera system and a performance-oriented suspension system coupled to rear-wheel or allwheel drive. The CTS Coupe emerged as a proposal inside Cadillac’s dedicated design studio, where designers develop and evolve the brand’s Art and Science design philosophy. It is
console and instrument panel trim. Available heated and ventilated seats incorporate “thin-seat” technology for maximum occupant comfort and enhanced rear-seat leg, knee and foot room. Fourteen-way adjustable Recaro sport seats are optional, as is a heated wood steering wheel.
CTS-V COUPE
The 2011 CTS is available in a two-door model that adds even more visual excitement to this fun Cadillac. powered by a 3.6L direct injected V-6 rated at 304 horsepower (227 kW). The high-performance CTS-V Coupe receives the same, 556-horsepower (415 kW) 6.2L supercharged V-8 found in the landmark CTSV Sport Sedan. “Cadillac has always been an emotional brand – it’s about delivering art regardless of body style,” said Max Wolff, director of exterior design for Cadillac. “With the CTS Coupe, it was about taking something very strong – the CTS Sport Sedan – and extending its
potential.” The coupe has the same wheelbase as the CTS Sport Sedan, but an overall height that is approximately two inches lower and an overall length that is two inches shorter.
DRIVING EXPERIENCE The CTS Coupe extends Cadillac’s emerging performance credentials, with its standard direct injected 3.6L V-6 and a six-speed manual, featuring a revised
clutch and dual-mass flywheel that offers better clutch pedal feel and improved engine isolation. A six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (and available steering wheel mounted shift buttons) is optional. The Coupe’s final drive ratio is 3.73:1, up from the 3.42:1 ratio of other CTS body styles, providing more responsive acceleration. The 3.6L DI engine is rated at 304 horsepower and offers EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg on the highway. It also runs on
less expensive regular unleaded gasoline.
COMFORT The CTS Coupe’s interior emphasizes technical precision with elegant, handcrafted details. The handassembled center console leads seamlessly into the center stack, providing a sportier “cockpit” feel for the driver and passenger without compromising space. The interior includes hand-sewn accents covering the door, center storage
The 2011 CTS-V Coupe combines the new CTS Coupe’s dramatic design with the 556-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine from the CTS-V sedan. The result is a luxury sports coupe aimed at driving enthusiasts. Its suite of technical and performance elements include Magnetic Ride Control, racing-bred Brembo brakes and an available automatic transmission with paddle-shift control. Unique design features include a grille that doubles car’s air intake volume, an important enabler for its high-performance capabilities. It is also visually identified by a raised center section of the hood that provides clearance for the supercharger, as well as specific front and rear fascias. Inside, the 2+2 cabin combines performance and luxury. A new Saffron interior trim color is offered, with contrasting microfiber seat inserts and stitching on the upper trim areas.
“CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities. It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts.” — Don Butler, Vice President – Cadillac Marketing.

Ford reinvents Explorer
ord Explorer – the vehicle that defined a segment – has been completely reinvented, raising customers’ expectations of sport utility vehicle (SUV) fuel efficiency, safety, technology, capability and quality. “The all-new Explorer will deliver today’s SUV buyers the attributes they really want and value, and a few they might not even have dreamed of,” said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas. “We’re proud to introduce the new Explorer to customers and fans around the world today and pleased to begin a whole new era that blends strong SUV fuel economy and performance.” The all-new Explorer launches today to its Facebook friends in a unique social media initiative, followed by reveal events throughout the U.S. and Canada.
MODERN SUV “The new Explorer simply does everything well,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. “It raises the bar for ride and handling on the road and transforms the off-road experience. It’s the hands-down winner for towing capability and ease. All this capability – and three rows of seating – with amazing fuel economy will make Explorer the absolute right choice for families with a sense of adventure.” The 2011 Explorer with
Quietness – another profound advancement in the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer – also will signal quality to customers.
SAFETY
Ford’s Explorer has been completely changed for 2011 with a new focus on technology and efficiency. V6 power is expected to deliver more than 20 percent better fuel economy than the 2010 model, shattering conventional expectations for SUV fuel efficiency. When equipped with the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine, Explorer fuel economy is expected to improve by more than 30 percent and exceed the 2010 Honda Pilot and 2010 Toyota Highlander V6. Chief Nameplate Engineer Jim Holland said the team targeted two key objectives when developing
the 2011 Ford Explorer. “It had to look modern and contemporary – inside and out – yet be instantly recognizable as an Explorer,” said Holland. “Next, the new Explorer needed to deliver the fuel economy today’s customers want, combined with the performance, capability and empowerment they expect from an SUV.”
DESIGN In addition to its clean, modern design inside and out, Explorer aims to please
SUV shoppers with a thoughtful, flexible interior package that abounds with clever storage capacity. The new SUV features more head and shoulder room, three rows of flexible seating, and room for everything families want to take along on their adventures. The Explorer design – inside and out – is executed with world-class craftsmanship. Tight margin gaps are just one indication of the immense attention to detail applied to craftsmanship across the spectrum, from design to
engineering to manufacturing. The Chicago facility where Explorer will be produced raised the bar on initial quality measures with the recent Taurus launch, which is good news for customers. “Crafting a high-quality vehicle is like preparing a gourmet meal,” said Peter Bejin, craftsmanship supervisor. “You start with high-quality ingredients, execute your recipe with flawless preparation and finally, present it with flair and panache.”
The all-new Explorer targets top safety ratings with a stiff unibody structure and a class-leading suite of active and passive safety features and technologies, plus another Ford safety innovation – the world’s first second-row inflatable rear belts. Rear seat passengers – often children or mature passengers – can be more vulnerable to head, chest and neck injuries. Ford’s unique inflatable rear belts spread impact forces across more than five times the area than conventional seat belts, reducing pressure on the chest while helping to control head and neck motion. Belt comfort should also help increase usage rates. Studies show inflatable belts to be more comfortable for passengers due to padding. From the boron front bumper beam through the hydroformed front frame rails and high-strength steel side-impact tubes, Explorer’s rigid body structure is designed to provide robust protection for occupants. In the instance of a crash, these elements come together to protect Explorer driver and passengers inside a safety cage of strength.
“The all-new Explorer will deliver today’s SUV buyers the attributes they really want and value, and a few they might not even have dreamed of. We’re proud to introduce the new Explorer to customers and fans around the world today and pleased to begin a whole new era that blends strong SUV fuel economy and performance.”
