Lancashire Arts Development Team Supporting great art which transforms lives & places
Case Study: More Music: Building skills / Enticing visitors "The most positive parts have been the improvement in behaviour of the young people involved in the sessions, the fact that they found the confidence to sing and play to each other and an audience."
Project Co Summary More Music is a key organisation in Lancashire, with a high profile across the county and beyond and a reputation for ambitious, excellent and inclusive work. This year they have been developing their work in the areas that matter – especially working with children and young people in challenging circumstances, developing their venue (The Hothouse in Morecambe) for the sharing of world class music and skills, and inputting into festivals that bring 1,000s of people into Lancashire.
Outputs There were 82,175 participants and audience members in libraries and other venues including 27,939 people aged from 12-19. The libraries included Brierfield and Skelmersdale, but huge audiences were also seen on the streets of Lancaster and throughout Morecambe for the kite festival aka 'Morecambe’s favourite festival' which brings in people from across the country. The organisation also developed 940 workshops or participatory activities and created 712 paid artists days – something that is crucial when developing progression routes for musicians.

"One regular attendee in our libraries is now employed on a parttime basis as a Blaze employee which a brilliant. That is down solely to More Music's involvement because this young man performed weekly with them". District Manager – LCC Libraries
