A sportier look for AcurA’s TLX Acura has made several changes to the TLX for the 2018 model-year, resulting in an overall sportier feel for the midsized sedan. Inspired by the MDX crossover’s new exterior design, which was introduced earlier this year, the TLX has taken on several new features, including a diamond pentagon grille, redesigned Jewel Eye headlights, a more sculpted hood and curvier fenders. Designers also updated the look of the car’s position lights, while the rear bumper was outfitted with new

Similarly, a new A-Spec version takes the TLX’s already bold design to the next level with a more prominent grille, LED fog lights, larger exhaust pipes, gunmetal grey rims, a black rear spoiler and side skirts. The suspension and direction have both been reinforced, and wider 19-inch wheels were added to enhance the driving experience. The interior of the TLX A-Spec is also something to note thanks to new lavish seats available in light beige Alcantara suede or red leather. Under the hood, the TLX’s 4-cylinder 2.4L production engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. For optimal performance, a 3.5-L V6 model generating 290 horsepower (the 2.4-L outputs 206) is available as well. Equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the V6 version is the only one to

Buick shakes things up To better compete against the luxury car giants of Germany and Japan, Buick has grabbed the bull by the horns and redefined its entire lineup for 2018. In addition to acquiring the all-new Envision compact SUV, Buick redesigned its full-size luxury sedan, the LaCrosse, and its compact luxury SUV, the Encore. Two other models have also been completely reimagined: the Enclave and the
Regal, the latter of which shed its classic sedan design in favor of new hatchback and wagon bodies. The 2018 Enclave sets itself apart from other full-size SUVs like the GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse with its larger frame and more spacious interior. It’s powered by a 3.6-L 302-horsepower V6 engine paired with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission and features an automatic shutdown system to save on gas. The 2018 Enclave is certainly a powerful vehicle, capable of hauling up to 5,000 lbs. Furthermore, it’s the first Buick to showcase the luxury Avenir trim with its chrome-accented exterior, refined interior and state-of-the-art technology.
The 2018 Buick Regal Sportback
The 2018 Regal has a bold new hatchback-inspired design.
The four-door Sportback version boasts an easyaccess trunk that’s twice as large as the sedan’s. The new Regal was built on a more rigid frame and weighs approximately 200 The 2018 lbs. less than the Buick Enclave previous model. Its powertrain, which comprises a turbocharged 2.0-L 4-cylinder engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission with frontwheel drive, outputs 250 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. As for the TourX wagon version, this US exclusive bases its mechanical components on the Sportback and aims to compete with the Audi A4 Allroad, Subaru Outback and Volvo V60 Cross Country.

Chevrolet invests in electricity and horsepower Chevrolet plans to offer several new models for 2018, including fully redesigned versions of the Equinox and Traverse. In addition, the automaker has announced a variety of limited edition models, namely the Corvette Carbon 65, Camaro ZL1 1LE, Tahoe RST and Suburban RST. These newcomers complete the lineup overhaul that Chevrolet kicked off earlier this year with the unveiling of the redesigned Sonic and Trax and launch of the all-new Bolt EV and hatchback Cruze.
In the pickup segment, the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD have both debuted a more powerful 6.6L V8 Duramax turbodiesel engine that outputs 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque. As for the midsize Colorado ZR2 option, it comes equipped with a number of features designed for extreme off-road driving. With its electric motor and 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack boasting a 238-mile range, the Bolt EV has quickly become a star player at Chevy. In sports-car news, the new 650-horsepower Camaro ZL1 1LE was designed for the racetrack, featuring a genuine carbon-fiber wing, an F1inspired suspension and Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires. The 2018 Equinox has been offloaded by 397 lbs. to offer consumers a more dynamic driving experience. Three powertrain options are available: a 1.5-L turbocharged 4-cylinder; a 2.0-L turbocharged 4-cylinder; and an all-new 1.6-L turbocharged diesel 4-cylinder. The diesel engine (also available with the Cruze) is mated

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse to a 9-speed automatic transmission for optimal performance. As for the new Traverse, it sets itself apart from the likes of the GMC Acadia with a more spacious eight-seat interior and a hefty 5,000lb. towing capacity. Two engines are available: a 2.0-L turbocharged 4-cylinder and a 3.6-L V6. For their part, the Tahoe RST and Suburban RST are powered by a 6.2-L V8 and an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission.

arrival, the Dodge Grand Caravan remains in production as Chrysler’s entry-level minivan. The Pacifica represents a higherend option with a more luxurious interior, improved handling and advanced tech features including a rechargeable hybrid engine—a brand first. The Pacifica comes standard with a 3.6-L V6 engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. For maximal fuel efficiency, an all-new hybrid engine system is also available. This version combines a 3.6-L Atkinson cycle V6 with an electric motor and a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has an estimated range of 566 miles on a fully charged battery and a full tank of fuel.

RAM pickup options have also been extended this year with the arrival of the new Rebel Blue Streak, Sublime Sport and Rebel in Delmonico Red editions, to name just a few.
The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid For its part, the RAM 2500 Power Wagon offers superior off-road capabilities in addition to sporting a few cosmetic upgrades. With 14.3 inches of ground clearance, this versatile powerhouse is designed for extreme terrains, namely thanks to Bilstein gas-charged monotube shocks, Tru-Lok front and rear differentials, full tank and transfer plates, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, a Warn winch, and a 6.4-L

On your marks! DODge reignites the race for power Two years ago, Dodge shocked consumers and automakers worldwide when it debuted its incredibly powerful Hellcat engine with the Challenger SRT and Charger SRT models. This supercharged 6.2-L V8 delivers 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Until recently, it was the most powerful V8 in the world to power standard production
passenger vehicles. Now, Dodge as returned in full force with an even mightier engine inside the new Challenger Demon. This time around, the Hellcat V8 outputs a massive 840 horsepower and 770 lb.-ft. of torque, allowing the Demon to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and travel a quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph. To generate that kind of horsepower, the Hellcat V8 requires racing fuel with an octane rating of 100 (91-rated fuel will bring the metrics down to 808 horsepower and 717 lb.-ft. of torque). That said, the Demon’s huge Air Grabber hood scoop brings fresh air to the engine to optimize the air-fuel mixture. A reinforced TorqueFlite 8HP90 8-speed automatic

GMC distinguishes itself from Chevrolet For decades, GMC’s vehicles have featured a more lavish design than their Chevrolet counterparts—just look at the abundance of chrome accents that ornament the GMC Denali and the pristine finish of its interior, where woodwork, topstitching, soft grain leather and other fine details come together to create a decidedly luxurious SUV. Nevertheless, GMC and
The GMC Acadia
Chevrolet models have always shared the same frame and most of the same mechanical features… until now. The GMC Acadia has distanced itself from the Chevrolet Traverse lately thanks to a more compact frame and improved handling. Smaller and lighter than the Traverse, the new Acadia is a full 700 lbs. lighter than its predecessor. This decrease in weight allowed manufacturers to incorporate a new 193-horsepower 2.5-L 4-cylinder engine under the hood. For even more power, the 3.6-L V6 version has been enhanced to deliver 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. Depending on the interior configuration, the Acadia can seat five, six or seven people. As for compact SUVs, the 2018 Terrain has been redesigned to
fit GMC’s new look. This second generation is set to take over for the first, which sold 700,000 units in North America since 2009. The new Terrain debuts three new turbocharged engines: a 1.5-L 4-cylinder; a 2.0-L 4-cylinder; and a 1.6-L turbodiesel 4-cylinder, all of which are mated to a new 9-speed automatic transmission. In the commercial segment, the Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD have opened their hoods to a more powerful 6.6-L turbodiesel Duramax V8 generating 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque. This powerhouse can run on B20 biodiesel (20 percent biodiesel combined with 80 percent regular diesel). Furthermore, the Allison 1000 automatic transmission has been reinforced to accommodate the engine’s greater torque capacity.

Honda banks on high performance Reimagining an iconic model like the Honda Civic is never an easy feat, but the automaker has received plenty of praise for its latest generation, unveiled just last year. Three versions of the Civic are now available: a sedan, a coupe and an all-new hatchback. To demonstrate its market dominance, Honda has further expanded its lineup of compact vehicles by reviving its sportier Civic Si and introducing the spectacular 2018 Type R.
All-new Odyssey dashboard
Compared to its predecessor, which was powered by a hefty 2.4-L 4-cylinder engine with 205 horsepower, the new Civic Si comes equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-L 4-cylinder, delivering the same horsepower but with greater torque. The only transmission available is a manual 6-speed. The turbocharged 1.5-L engine consumes less fuel than the 2.4-L, and its lighter build allows for improved handling and comfort. In electric mode, the rechargeable hybrid has an approximate range of 25 miles before requiring backup

With the right road conditions, the electric Ioniq’s range can reach 125 miles. The 2018 Sonata was given a makeover and now sports a more dynamic body, a wider trunk cover and new taillights. The turbocharged 2.0T version stands out by its more aggressive grille design and its 18-inch wheels. Inside, the dashboard has been rearranged and outfitted with a standard-issue 7-inch touchscreen (an 8-inch version is available). Other notable features of the 2.0T include its sporty steering wheel, comfort-enhanced seats and sport-style paddle shifter for switching between the 8 speeds of its new semi-automatic transmission.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata THE GENESIS LINE
Compared to the defunct Equus and Genesis sedans, the new G90, G80 and G80 Sport boast a more modern look in addition to offering all-wheel drive capabilities. Three engines are available: a twin-turbo 3.3-L V6; a 3.8-L V6; and a 5.0-L V8. Finally, to expand its product offerings, Hyundai is working on a new SUV.

Kia enters the sports car race Kia has several new models in store for 2018, including the Niro, the Stinger and the new-generation Rio. These models come as a follow-up to the Cadenza, Forte and Sportage, unveiled earlier this year.
The 2018 Kia Rio
The new Stinger has allowed the South Korean manufacturer to make a noteworthy debut in the sports car segment. This 5-door sedan has the chops to compete with the Audi A5 Sportback and the BMW 4-series Gran Coupe. Two powertrain options are available, namely a turbocharged 2.0-L 4-cylinder and a twin-turbo 3.3-L V6, which output 255 and 365 horsepower, respectively. An 8-speed automatic gearbox comes standard, and buyers can choose between rearwheel and all-wheel drive capabilities. The Niro is an all-new hybrid-powered compact
crossover that rivals the Toyota Prius V, the Ford C-Max and the new Hyundai Ioniq. Its powertrain comprises a 1.6-L 104-horsepower Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder, a 43-horsepower electric motor, a 1.56-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Kia also plans to release a rechargeable hybrid version in 2019.
The 2018 Kia Stinger
The new Rio has undergone a bumperto-bumper makeover. Build-wise, its stiffer platform and extended wheelbase create more space inside the cabin. As such, the driving experience is more dynamic thanks to a firmer suspension and tighter steering. Its 1.6-L 4-cylinder engine was also updated to reduce fuel consumption. Transmission-wise, both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic are available.
The Kia Niro
MAZDA: master of engine design
The 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S
The Mazda MX-5 RF
Ingenious automaker Mazda celebrates this year the 50th anniversary of its rotary engine. The first-ever car to come standard with a Wankel engine was the Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S in 1967; the last Mazda vehicle to sport the engine was the RX-8 between 2003 and 2012. In any case, the rotary engine allowed Mazda to enter the world of auto racing and win several championships, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991. As was the case with the rotary engine, successful completion of the recent SKYACTIV technology was considered an impossible task. When Mazda finally unveiled the SKYACTIV-G engine family, no other standard gas-powered engine was able to function at a 14.0:1
compression rate, the highest in the world. Similarly, no other diesel engine can reach the new SKYACTIV-D’s 14.4:1 compression rate — the world’s lowest. That said, let’s take a look at Mazda’s current lineup. With its younger, more dynamic appearance, the new CX-5 seems to have taken some style tips from its older brother, the CX-9, and now sports a more modern grille, headlight, taillight and turn signal design. Stylists have also touched up the dashboard and added a 7-inch touchscreen. On the road, the new CX-5 offers an enhanced driving experience thanks to better soundproofing technology and improved interior comfort. Three 4-cylinder SKYACTIV powertrains are available: 2.0-L gas-powered, 2.5-L gaspowered, and an all-new 2.2-L diesel.
The Mazda CX-5 Remaining in line with the KODO design spirit, Mazda has retouched the grille and rear bumper of the Mazda3. In other news, the MX-5 RF cabriolet now sports a rigid retractable Targa-style roof, while the 2018 CX-3 is offered with a manual transmission and enhanced soundproofing technology. Tech-wise, new G-force vector control functionality was applied to the 2018 Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9.

NissaN adds an sUV to its lineup Once again this year, Nissan has unveiled several new releases to help solidify its market share. In the SUV segment, for instance, the Japanese manufacturer introduced the new Qashqai and entirely redesigned the Armada. As for the Leaf electric car, it’s now equipped with a
30-kWh lithium battery that offers a range boost up to 107 miles. Both the Rogue and the Versa Note have been rejuvenated and now sport a new V-shaped grille and slimmer headlights.
The 2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition
In the sports car segment, the spectacular GT-R has seen an increase in power, comfort and handling. The compact Sentra SR Turbo sedan and its NISMO version are equipped with a new turbocharged 1.6-L 4-cylinder engine that outputs 188 horsepower. A 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT transmission are available. The Sentra NISMO stands out by its aerodynamic spoilers, firmer suspension, 18-inch 10-spoke wheels, sporty seats and leather steering wheel,
among various other accessories. Furthermore, Nissan has unveiled a commemorative version of its 370Z, the Heritage Edition, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Z line, which has given rise to the 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 300ZX and 350Z over the decades.
The Nissan Qashqai
QashQai For now, both the Qashqai and the subcompact Micra are only available in Canada. If the demand is high enough, the Qashqai will be sold in the United States; this SUV has already seen great success in Europe, where it’s been available for a decade. Hierarchy-wise, the Qashqai sits between the Juke and the Rogue. While it’s built on the same
platform as the latter, it’s shorter and easier to maneuver in urban settings. On the powertrain front, the Qashqai is powered by a 2.0-L, 141-horsepower 4-cylinder, while the Rogue houses a 2.5L 170-horsepower 4-cylinder under the hood. In both cases, front- and all-wheel drive options are available.
