Green Initiatives from Midwest Mountaineering

Midwest Mountaineering continues to be a green friend to the outdoor community.

The “Green Line” light-rail connects downtown St. Paul with downtown Minneapolis. The U of M West Bank stop is just 1/2 block from our front door. The “Blue Line” Cedar Riverside stop is just 3 blocks from our door. The environment wins when you ride the rails. Try it. It’s fun!

The solar panels on our roof continue to supplement our energy use. We have switched to all LED bulbs.. We are a Clean Energy Partner with Arcadia Power. Many building improvements have earned us an “Energy Star Certification.”

Our product selection features gear and clothing made by some of the most energy efficiency minded companies in the world. Merino wool and more down than ever are examples of products that are and always have been great green choices.

We’re working toward becoming paperless. We’re doing more scanning and emailing now, including the Expo newspaper. We’re trying to do our part to protect our planet.

We subsidize employees who use public transportation and we pay employees to ride their bikes!
