lives continue down the path of recovery with the ongoing release of the vaccines.

We are thrilled to see more and more of our Librarian friends return to and reopen their buildings, and/or expand the scope of their patron services. Another positive indicator has been the recent announcement from AMC Theatres, the largest cinema exhibitor in the US, that 99% of their locations will be open by the end of March, accompanied by reduced capacities and expanded cleaning protocols. This good news will help to support the film industry’s latest release plans as they look to launch movies previously scheduled for a 2020 release.

We anticipate that some moviegoers will cautiously make the return to their favorite theaters, while others will opt for new premium-priced stream-at-home options, and even more will decide to wait until there is a physical video release on DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K. Libraries are going to be a key source of these new releases for patrons who aren’t yet comfortable attending an in-person theater experience.
