Dante Marioni On holidays ?
M. A. Carretero.
Yes. This July I think we deserve a break because this year has been very busy due mainly to the campaign we had to make to denounce the misappropriation of opportunities for our museum by the government team of our City . As many of our friends know, through the platform Change.org conducted from last December a campaign to collect signatures in support of our request to the Mayor of our City so he would not severing our museum spaces and to do everything possible to give it back to the settings at the time of his inauguration.

We managed to do the support of more than 500 signatures and we stayed to the bitter taste of noting the absence of support from some friends I firmly believe in solidarity with our just demand principle. Now at the beginning of this holiday season, the museum still without the two spaces that have been taken from them

Michael Rogers has a great academic curriculum and has two Masters in Contemporary Art, one by the Western Illinois University, Macomb (1978) and the other from the University of Illinois (1981). MAVA has two Michael Rogers works in its collection, the collection from Takako Sano. Two bottles of perfume, one in red and one blue identical. Both are blown and carved. These works correspond to a particular period in the artist's production between the late 80s and early 90s, when it was dedicated to designing perfume bottles, as we also did the British artist Colin Reid and many others .

In the late 40s, Matisse painted the Chapelle du Rosaire for the Dominican nuns of Vence on the French Riviera, and in the 70s Rothko did in a modern (and of questionable architectural taste) sanctuary in Houston, Texas, funded by the marriage of philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil. And last June 29, Sean Scully, which met 70 years opened his speech in Santa Cecilia de Montserrat, a Romanesque church of the X century the first monastery built in the mountains, even before that of Montserrat. A unique place where Scully Abstract Expressionism merges with medieval foundations, Lombard arches and the austerity of the Benedictine chapel to create a spiritual atmosphere that transcends religion and delves into the mystical and introspective dimension of art.
Scully Santa Cecilia sculpted with light (the eight red, blue and yellow stained glass, which refer to the primary colors but also to martyrdom, to the Virgin and St. Paul), six large paintings evocative, three fresh, three crosses glass and glass panel behind the altar three colors. "The triptych is important in all world religions idea. Whether religious or not, three is a number that is repeated often in my work, "admits Scully. In fact, it is a triptych of different shades of blue with gold trim-and reminiscent of medieval icons or pre-Renaissance of Giotto's first piece with the visitor encounters. Nobody should seek meanings and explanations to the work of Scully. "There is symbolism in my work. Yes, that can a dog sitting on a carpet in front of the fire, "joked the artist, for whom the" abstraction has a very deep meaning. "
He expressed deep colors, "Abstraction is the spiritual art of textures, contrasting geometries our time", considers Sean Scully, of and subtle touches that emphasize Irish Catholic descent. "I grew up in the tragic dimension of life, the a poor family. And I remember drama inherent in the human when I was little home from my condition, the mystery of the grandmother, who was a devout unattainable, doubt ... The reference of the Rothko Chapel was inevitable for Scully, a great admirer of the precursor of Abstract Expressionism, to which he devoted a pamphlet published by Harvard. "The competition does not make any sense. But then I use art history and try to avoid the shortcomings of others. Matisse Chapel in Vence no pictures, his work is primarily decorative. Instead, Rothko does have weight, but very depressed, his paintings are very dark "compared Scully, who has composed a vibrant, almost musical, work for Santa Cecilia. In the early twentieth century, the monastery of Santa Cecilia and seduced the modernist architect Puig i Cadafalch, who performed the restoration of the church following historicist criteria. Now, after a delicate restoration which touches the million euros (funded by the County Council) and the intervention of Scully, Santa Cecilia is set to become a new icon of Montserrat. "We want to avoid Santa Cecilia is a tourist attraction. It is a church, but also a place of introspection and meditation, a stage for special lectures and concerts. The musical part will be very important, because Santa Cecilia was the patron saint of music, "said Father Josep C. Laplana, director of the Museu de Montserrat. The idea is that Santa Cecilia remains a place of spiritual retreat amid Marganell Valley.

The Martian orbiter NASA MRO has detected deposits of glass inside impact craters on Mars. Although these depressions are formed with the scorching heat of a violent impact, they can provide clues about past life on the Red Planet.
One of the authors, Kevin Cannon, said that there are "large deposits of glass" in several ancient craters, but well preserved on Mars.
Spectrometer Compact Reconnaissance Imaging MRO, which was the "deputy principal investigator" was used.
For work they have been selecting glassy mineral deposits identifying rock types and remotely.
That was how the deposits are found in several central peaks of craters on Mars, on steep hills that often form in the center of a crater during an impact.
A study in 2014 and led by scientist Peter Schultz of Brown University (USA), found organic molecules on Earth and plant matter buried in glass.
The scientists measured the spectra of the light reflected from the planet's surface, even a glass of impact "does not have a particularly strong spectral signal" as noted.
Were the result of an impact occurred millions of years ago in Argentina. Schultz suggested that similar processes could preserve evidence of life on Mars, if they were present at the time of impact.
"The glass tends to be bland or weakly spectrally expressive, so its signals tend to be overwhelmed by chunks of rock are mixed with it", he pointed out the researcher. However, the team found a way to make fun of that signal.
Now researchers at the US agency wanted to prove that this was possible and have gotten to know in detail the presence of this "impact glass" on Mars.
Working in the laboratory and in space
It is a study, published in 'Geology', which, according to scientists, will bring important data on the conservation of biological signatures on Mars.
Experts say that the deposits are in the central peaks is a good indicator that they have a source of impact. "Moreover, the situation suggests that impact glass tanks are relatively common on Mars," the director of the planetary science division at NASA Jim Green noted. "These areas could be targets for future exploration with the new robotic or human explorers scientists," he added.
One of the craters containing glass, called Hargraves, is near Nili Fossae channel and is about 650 kilometers long. The region is one of the landing sites being considered for future NASA rover on Mars by Once they did, an algorithm for 2020. selecting similar data signals In a laboratory, mixed powders with a similar composition of Mars rocks and through a furnace used to form the glass.
