Bridal Attire Every bride wants to look like a princess on her wedding day. Whether a traditional princess, or a thoroughly modern rulebreaking princess, we know you will look radiantly beautiful on your special day.

made or rented. Buying pre-loved gowns is also becoming more accepted. They have usually only been worn once - making their highly discounted price an attractive option when budget is a concern.

Most brides-to-be have a general idea of what style of wedding dress they prefer but you should do a little research to ensure it is practical. Firstly you should consider the style of the wedding, both for the ceremony and the reception plus the time of year you are getting married. Equally important is to know what style of gown suits you.

When you start shopping for a gown, remember to wear appropriate underwear; most gowns won’t look their best with a wide-strapped, supportive sports bra underneath! Many women find a strapless bra and slip the most practical underwear for bridal shopping; if you don’t wear them, at least take them with you. It is also sensible to wear appropriate height shoes, preferably the height you will be wearing on your special day.

Bridal gowns can be bought off the rack, individually designed and specially

Beauty Hair & Makeup Look your best!! No bride is complete without a perfect makeover. Wedding day makeup is a must for every bride, even if you never wear makeup. You will be photographed all day long and will want to look your best in all those beautiful shots. Sometimes even adding the simplest efforts to your routine can help your skin look more luminous; like drinking eight glasses of water daily, cutting back on caffeine and alcohol consumption, not stressing out about the planning details before your big day and getting plenty of rest the week of your wedding will help your skin glow and allow your makeup artist to make you into a beautiful blushing bride Wedding hairstyles complete the bridal look for the bride. It is as important as the makeup and accentuates the bride’s face. Have an initial consultation with a stylist about three months before your wedding. Try several different wedding hairstyles so you can make an informed choice. Then arrange for a styling“run-through” three to four weeks before the big day. Take photos of the resulting hairstyle so your stylist will be able to duplicate it more easily on your wedding day.

Wedding Cake Trends 2011-12 Cupcakes

Single tiered

Time is money. The more elaborate your wedding cake design is, the more it will cost. If you want extensively detailed icing, which requires skills, creativity and remarkable patience, you will pay more. A more recent trend for wedding cakes is to have only the bottom layer of the cake real. The rest will be dummies. This way, you save some money but get the overall look. The new trend is smaller cakes, such as petit fours, cupcakes or other individual-sized portions. In some cases, each wedding guest receives a miniature version of the wedding cake. But remember that such an approach increases the labor involved, as well as the price.

Cakes of love, made with love. JWRG I 12

Top 5 Ways to Save 1.

2.

3.

HAVE A SMALL GUEST LIST This can be difficult but is sometimes necessary if the cost per guest is going to break your budget. Cross off names on the list of guests who might feel obligated to come to the wedding if they are invited but would not have their feelings hurt if they are not asked to attend. Think of inviting only relatives with whom you have a close relationship instead of everyone related to you. Invite only the people who are important to you and your parents rather than everyone you know. CUT THE TOO MANY BRIDESMAIDS AND GROOMSMEN Have you ever seen a wedding with more than a dozen in the bridal party? It starts to look like a wedding army. If you are inviting lots of guests, it makes sense to have a large wedding party. Before you start adding your friend whom you haven’t seen since high school, and all of your cousins, consider what the role of the wedding party should be. Even if you’re not paying for the wedding party’s attire, each of those attendants requires a bouquet or boutonniere, a thank you gift, and an invitation to the rehearsal dinner and other parties. A few unnecessary bridesmaids or groomsmen will certainly dent your budget. Saving Tip: Consider asking these friends and loved ones to read during the ceremony or give them a special role at the reception. THE ‘WRONG’ DAY COULD

BE THE PERFECT DAY You can save substantially by having your wedding on a less-popular day or at a less-popular time. Changing the time or day of the wedding from a dinner, to a breakfast or brunch wedding or having it on a weekday can save you a lot in catering costs. 4.

RETHINK THE FORMAL RECEPTION IDEA While your dream wedding may include a reception at a hotel for a few hundred guests and a multi-course sit-down dinner, your budget may not be able to accommodate it. No problem; you just need to be a bit creative. When you are looking at possible wedding reception locations, ask to see a range of options for the meal—choose to have an evening wedding with a cocktail reception afterward

5.

ELIMINATE MEANINGLESS AND EXPENSIVE WEDDING FAVORS Wedding favors can be a thoughtful way of saying thank you to your guests. But far too often they’re a meaningless knickknack. You’re going to spend a lot of money on things that will just collect dust, or end up in the trash. Saving Tip: Some of the most thoughtful wedding favors can be handmade. Put together a booklet of family recipes, or create a CD with an insert explaining why you chose each song or an even better option is to make a donation to charity and have your guests sign the donation card that will accompany your gift.

Your Perfect Wedding Ceremony &Reception Venue Nestled in the foothills of St. Catherine, 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kington, Caymanas Golf and Country Club provides an unforgettable ambience. An indoor and outdoor venue, this is an enchanting and tranquil venue with a heart-shaped pool, beautiful gardens, spacious clubhouse that seats up to 450 guests and provides spectacular view of the lush green golf course, and Kingston city. Offerings include full banqueting services (food, beverage, tables, chairs with

cushions, cutlery, glassware, tableware, tablecloth, and serving staff). Wedding packages accommodate a minimum of 50 to a maximum of 450 persons seated. Impress the in-laws right from the start; exchange vows in a beautiful garden overlooking the blue waters of a heartshaped pool or the scenic view of a lush green golf course, then have your guests retreat to the pool side for cocktails while you and your bridal party take photographs. Then Indulge your fantasies and create a fairy-tale reception in the clubhouse.

Make it an affair to remember......

If you receive an invitation you are responsible to send a gift.

The maid of honour is the bride’s closest single friend or relative. The matron of honour is the bride’s closest married friend or relative. There can be two maids of honour, or a maid of honour and a matron of honour or two matrons of honour.

If a man asks you to marry him and you accept, you are engaged. A ring, although traditional, is not a necessity.

Wedding Planners & Coordinators Day-of-Wedding Coordination Sometimes a bride doesn’t want to hire a wedding planner to plan the entire wedding as she may be cutting costs or she wants to do it herself. She wants someone to help her on her wedding day, to ensure everything is taken care of as she goes off to get married. “Day of ” wedding coordination isn’t as simple as it sounds, therefore make sure the Coordinator has the experience and has handled numerous weddings prior. Coordinators price their services according to the number of things you require them to do or they may charge a flat hourly fee. Top things to consider when hiring a “day of” wedding coordinator 1. The coordinator was not part of the entire planning process so all the detailed information about the products and services purchased must be shared. 2. Services you can expect may include; designing the floor plan for the reception, conducting the rehearsal, assisting with the programme, assisting with the photography session, assisting with the seating of guests, coordinate deliveries, oversee vendor setup, oversee the last minute details that you never got around to completing. 3. Provide coordinator with copies of all vendor contracts, so hiccups can be avoided 4. Tell vendors that you have hired a dayof-wedding coordinator so they know who will be in charge. 5. Prepare a timeline which should include a detailed schedule of the wedding party, ushers, seating arrangements, processional, picture taking session, dinner will be served, when deliveries and vendors are expected to arrive to setup and what time all vendors need to be cleared out. 6. Provide coordinator with receipts/paid invoices for all vendors. You do not want things not to be done or provided because you have not paid the bills. JWRG I 31
