our makeup should last all day, through all the crying, hugging, kissing, eating and dancing. Your mascara should be waterproof, and lipstick kiss proof ! Remember that some foundations and/or powders look different in pictures, since they reflect light differently. If possible, get your makeup checked and photographed with a flash before the big day. Also, blend your foundation
down the neck to make sure your face does not look different from the rest of your body. If you’re getting any facial treatments, make sure to get them several days before the wedding day. Sometimes skin can look irritated for the next couple of days after treatments, and you don’t need that kind of surprise! Your bridal makeup should enhance your features so you look like yourself — at your most radiant and beautiful.

BRIDESMAIDS When choosing your bridesmaids remember the following: are they reliable, can they afford to pay for their bridal attire, what is your relationship like. So when you invite someone to be a member of your bridal party, outline the responsibilities to them. You should give them a graceful opportunity to decline if they cannot afford to participate or has another reason for declining. Bridesmaids should be flexible and willing to compromise. eremony & reception venues are two of the most important elements of your wedding planning. These are the backdrop for memories that will last a lifetime. Couples, especially brides, are often led by their eyes rather than their wallet when it comes to selecting a venue. Below are some helpful hints for ensuring that all of the right questions are answered upfront before you contract a venue. Know Before You Go: It is good to have an estimated idea of what your guest list and budget are when seeking a venue. Overtime Fees: Always ask venues about their overtime policy and if there are overtime fees. Roomy Fit: An empty room you are viewing can fill up quickly once you get all of the wedding day components in. The only way to truly see a reception venue’ size is to visit during another wedding of the same size. Make sure to ask the venue if you can. Offering: Each venue is different with what they include in the price. Some include food & beverage, tables and chairs, while others offer only the space. Be sure to have this discussion with the venue before you visit. Falling in love with a place only to find out you can’t afford the extras is a waste of time. Parking Problems: Make sure that they have plenty parking spaces for your guests. If parking is an issue, an organized shuttle service is an option, if it’s within your budget. Decor Details: Is your dream wedding illuminated by soft candlelight or does it have elaborate décor hanging from the ceilings? Make sure you discuss your prospective vision with the venue, as well as ask for any restrictions they have, so you’re not dealing with any décor crisis. Electricity Outlets: While viewing the space, look for outlets, especially in the area you want the DJ, instrumental or band to play. Extension cords going 14
through the area is not only an eyesore but they are hazardous. Bar: Ask the venue about their liquor policy and any corkage fees if you bring in your own. Handicapped Accessibility: Find out if entryway and the bathrooms are handicapfriendly. You may not have a family member in a wheelchair, but older relatives may have difficulty on stairs or a guest could find themselves unexpectedly on crutches. Hidden Costs: Ask the venue about their minimums for food and beverage, special pricing for vendor meals, cancellation policies, taxes, staff (waiter, bartender, security) service fees, parking, set-up and take-down fees. Rehearsal Time: Ceremony rehearsal is to be done in the exact spot you’ll be doing the event. Ensure that the space is available and if there are any additional charges. Rehearsals typically last an hour. Back-Up Plan: If the ceremony and or the reception is outdoors, the venue should offer a back-up plan in case of inclement weather. Renovations: Ask about any redecorating or renovation plans for the near future. If there will be, get the guarantee that it won’t interfere with your wedding. Day-of-Wedding Coordinator: If you are not using a Wedding Planner or Coordinator, it is crucial that you recruit an extremely organized friend or have someone knowledgeable to ensure your dream is executed into a reality.

Details, Details, Details……. The two most important things that require the most times are always the preparation of the bride and the couple portraits. The more information that is shared between the photographer and the couple, the easier the photo shoot will be. Timing is important. Traditionally, couple portraits and bridal party pictures take place right after the ceremony/prior to the reception. You don’t want to keep your guests waiting for hours for the reception to start. Discuss the picture taking flow with your photographer and a time limit must be agreed upon. Decide on where you want your formal photo shoot to take place. Only the bridal party should go with the photographer to this location. Family members and friends provide distractions which can interrupt the creativity of the photographer.
Most photographers require a deposit of 50-75% of their fees for confirmation and the balance is due when the photos are delivered. Ensure that you get a delivery period (normally a maximum of 4 weeks) from your photographer. If you are booking a full wedding package through a Planner, then the full amount may be required prior to your wedding date.

It is courteous to include videographers and photographers in your head count at your reception. They will be with you from dressing right through the reception and will need to eat and drink. Discuss meals during your planning and costing so that there are no misunderstandings or embarrassments.

Legal Requirements To get married legally in Jamaica, no blood tests are required.
