WELCOME Antigone Valen Conference Director

Dear Attendees, Welcome to Business Today’s first annual Women in Business Conference! Founded in 1968, Business Today has seen some substantial success in bringing together top executives, leaders, and students through the various channels of our magazine, Start @ and International conferences, and our Online Journal. Starting this year, we add yet another channel to expand Business Today’s mission of bridging the communication gap between undergraduates and executives. We aim to add more to the experience of a traditional conference by making this event interactive, personalized, and long-lasting. We hope that our focus on mentorship and the new relationships formed here will carry long into the future so that every student here today will come away with a clearer sense of her business aspirations, ways in which to achieve them, and a network from which to seek and share advice. The Women in Business Conference will add to the on-going dialogue surrounding women’s roles in business –– it aims to take a realistic view of the opportunities, the challenges, and the ways in which to navigate them. Today we have speakers from many corners of the business world, from start ups and finance to media and industrial. We have executives both senior and junior, with ranging experiences and insights with which to provide color to today’s topic. We have chosen a top group of students from schools around the U.S. and hometowns around the globe. We hope that our student attendees will come away not just with more wisdom, but with a new network of both female executives and other business-interested peers, a realistic set of goals and ways in which to achieve them, and, finally, the passion and courage to help fellow women traverse the world of business. We hope that our executive attendees will come away with an enhanced knowledge of the next generation of business leaders’ aspirations for the future. Business Today hopes to create a strong Women in Business alumni network so that some of the students present today very well may be next generation’s executives and mentors speaking at this conference. Thank you all for joining us today and we hope you have a great experience!

Sincerely, Antigone Valen Women in Business Conference Director
