Welcome Colleen Kang DIRECTOR | iNTERNATIONAL cONFERENCE Dear Conference Attendee, We are so excited to welcome you to Business Today’s 41st Annual flagship event, the International Conference! Forty-seven years ago, Steve Forbes and two of his colleagues founded Business Today with the mission of connecting students to the business world. This weekend, Business Today’s mission comes to life as you meet with leading executives in various industries and interact with the top undergraduate students from all around the world. This year’s conference theme is Business and Innovation: Transformations through Technology in the 21st Century. Technology has changed the way we go about our daily lives as well as changed the way that the business world operates. In the past few decades, this transformation has impacted small businesses, big businesses, work environment, corporate culture, marketing, security, business mobility, and research capacity. Technology has also served as a challenge, increasing the pace of the business world, allowing for the leak of confidential information to a much wider audience, and keeping eyes on every movement of every corporation at all times. Not staying current with technology may be the sword on which the companies of the 20th century fall. At the 2015 International Conference, we aim to gain a greater understanding of how these businesses have transformed and the benefits and challenges of such a dynamically changing environment. Through exploration of technology’s role in the traditional business setting as well as technology’s role in allowing completely new businesses to take shape, we will get a comprehensive understanding of this integral industry. I encourage you to create meaningful dialogue that allows greater insight into the continuously changing landscape of the business world by engaging with the myriad of executives and students surrounding you. This weekend, you have the very unique experience of being surrounded by the most talented and accomplished students from all corners of the world. The international conference is particularly unique in that we believe in the inherent value added by students who are from vastly different backgrounds, educational systems, and of course, countries. As technology has allowed our world, and especially our business world, to become increasingly globalized and connected, the interaction with business leaders and students from all over the world is also increasingly necessary for success. We know that the acquaintances and friendships you make over the next few days, and the subsequent ideas and LinkedIn connections you take away can, and will, last a lifetime. I would also like to thank the fantastic conference team and staff for all of their hard work in putting together this phenomenal conference. It has been a journey and we are so excited to finally welcome you all! We hope that you have a wonderful time at this year’s International Conference! Sincerely, Colleen I. Kang
