The locations will be within walking distance of the light rail station scheduled to open in 2023. • The newest Eagle Scouts from troops 457 and 647 are Henry Weiker, Graeme Stoney, Scott McLellan, Nathaniel Nichol, and Connor Hanson; they were recognized at a City Council meeting on Tuesday.
• Gina Haspel was confirmed by the Senate as the new CIA director. • Ten people were killed and several more were injured in a shooting Friday morning at Santa Fe High School, in southeastern Texas.
• MIHS band students collected food and donations on behalf of Mercer Island Youth and Family Services food bank and Northwest Harvest. Led by Paige Robertson and Carmen Wright, they collected over 11,000 lbs of food and over $1000 in donations.

• Seattle City Council voted Monday to levy a head tax on businesses that make more than $20 million annually in gross revenue in order to fund homeless services. • Governor Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency for eastern counties that are experiencing severe flooding. • Seattle Mariners second baseman Robbie Cano was suspended from 80 games without pay after testing positive for diuretic furosemide, a masking agent that is banned under MLB’s drug policy.
