The new festival area where Summar Festivalur in will take place ever y year in august will be moved across the street from its cur rent location. The space will ser ve as a par k dur ing the year and the new buildings together with drainage system leading the water to the near by r iver, will secure better and more protec tive sur roundings for the festival than the cur rent situation.

THE LINKS The concept of the fishnet allows to develop K laksvík according to the same patter n as well as to connec t the cit y bet ween the t wo fjords and mountains

The unbuilt areas will remain open, temporar ily ser ving as cattle fields and recre ational areas, until the fur ther developent of the cit y towards the souther n fjord will take place.

The floating fish mar ket, placed under the built construc tion, is a moder n inter pretation of the traditional way of selling freshly caught fish straight out of the boats as they retur n from the sea. The mar ket hall, made of wood, steel and glass mater ials with an open side responding to the existing brewer y, will be home to a busy trade, a restaurant and to a viewing galler y, from which both, the sea as well as the mar ket ac tivities can be followed.
