/ Introduction The purpose of this portfolio is to provide an insight into which projects and workshops I’ve worked with through my undergraduate education in Architecture & Design at Aalborg University. The portfolio is not created in a chronological order according to the timeline for the semester, but is designed to present my qualities and design in the best possible way. At Aalborg University, projects are mainly carried out in groups of five or six people which can be both a challenge and an inconvenience, but also contribute to the much richer and fuller design proposals because each has their own qualities and competencies. And it improves the cooperation skills of each group member and prepares us better for future, working as an architect in a mixed team of designers, architects and engineers. The projects will be visualized through the most prominent sketches, models, pictures, case studies and other elements used through the project, and supplemented through different types of presentation material. On each page and with every project, there’s a small icon-list to illustrate which programs have been used in order to complete and develop the project. It should be mentioned that I possess extensive knowledge of BSim, Be06, Sketchup and Dial Europe even though they are not listed.

/ Villa Jorgensen
ĆœĆźĆ˛ĆšČˇÇ€Ç ĆłĆş
In this 6th semester minor-project, the goal was to gain a greater insight and understanding of how a simple sketched project such as Villa Jorgensen, translated into realistic projects and how the building and design phase work together in practice at a real architecture studio. At the same time the purpose was to learn about the use of general theories and methods in the field of project managing. This Minor project focused on how an architect studio handles the entire process, from initial sketches and all the way through to the final product.

/ The Media House The project on 6th semester contains the theme of integrated building design, and addresses the design of an office building on the city of Nørresundby’s, waterfront. In developing the project must aesthetics, engineering, construction and climate technical solutions become part of an integrated design process. The office building to Nørresundby’s waterfront is based on four creative enterprises where the project’s vision and concept is that the new Media house should be a challenging piece of architecture, where new synergies between businesses and the public takes place. The aesthetic aspects of the design have its starting point in concept where multiple parts unite into a simple shape and the design should represent this duality and connection in between the companies. This complexity in the form has worked with contrasts as a tool and is clearly exposed the visual reflection of building. The Office building also relates to the context and involving the local area, with an open ground floor, which is inviting and open due to the big glass facade in street level.

How the design relates to the dominant line of sight, and that the building creates review and vistas from the city and down towards the water and thereby inviting the public through the ground floor and provide the building with life throughout the day.
/ Kunsten Updated In this 5th semester project, the task was to design an extension to an existing art museum designed by Alvar Aalto back in 1972. This meant that the design proposal should be aware of history and aesthetics of the existing museum while addressing the specific context into account in the design of a new extension. The green hill around the museum generated the foundation for our design proposals. As a general concept for the design and extension, was to help the museum to expose themselves more to the public and city. With this location it was also possible to enrich the visitors with the experience of the surrounding

nature. Therefore the extension and the existing museum, was connected with a simple and discreet glass corridor. That way, it was possible for visitors to experience nature and enjoy the view over the city while exploring the museum and its exhibitions. The overall inspiration for the design concept originated in the way the rocks and stones meet with vegetation on a hillside. So the idea was to make the design as a part of the nature surrounding the original museum in such a way that the characteristic green hillside was maintained. For the same reason it was chosen to separate the extension in three different buildings, which also gave visitors a greater degree of selectivity, as they move through the museum.

Examples of floorplans in the Hostel
This 4th semester project revolved around a Youth Hostel design, at an old industrial site in the center of the city of Aalborg. The general concept for the project and design was to play with the boundaries between private and public space and how the tension between them can create the architecture. The design process was developed for a new bunk bed concept, which meant that it was possible to compress the rooms and make room for more sleeping people in the same room while there was a clear separation between private and public, even within the sleeping areas. These bed modules were designed in 5 different shapes and placed on four floors of the hostel. This gave each floor with its own expression and brought a new dimension to the facade and the appearance out to the city. A vision of this hostel was designed to illustrate openness and appear welcoming to the surrounding city.
/ Contour The concept of this 4th semester minor project was to create crime preventable furniture to remedy critical and unsafe places in Aalborg and thereby improve evening and night life. The project, Contour unfolding at the Kennedy Space center in Aalborg To prevent crime and make this square a more pleasant place to stay, it is important that people have a connection with each other and do not feel afraid to walk around. To avert this, the object is located in the center of Kennedy Square, and collects information from places around the area and responds to them with lights. Because people can see, they affect the object in the middle of the square, and they see a need to investigate the matter further. Because of this need, the center of the Kennedy Square slowly fills with people and the anxiety and discomfort is no longer present.

Cloudgate
In relation with the theme “Structures of a future life” there was designed and produced a piece of furniture to be seen as an experiment on Toldbod square at Aalborg’s new waterfront. The furniture is developed with relations within architecture, industrial and urban design and is 35 meters long and 4.95 meters high. The motivation for this project is based on the progressively increasing Facebook culture, because virtual socializing on the Internet becomes a more widespread way of life, while the physical meeting is being deselected. The goal of the experiment is to promote physical meetings between people, for instance by giving the furniture features from the virtual meeting. The design is based on analysis of phenomenology, future theories and urban theories. Furthermore the furniture was design with inspiration from case studies, as the Spanish Steps in Rome, Kunsthaus Graz in Graz and Cloud Gate in Chicago. These 3 cases contain all parameters that were desired as a combination in the Face Future. The design process of the furniture involved, apart from the actual design process, materials, design and detailing.
The urban furniture responds interactively to the presence of people around it, and let the people in the area know that there is activity at ‘Facefuture’ and inviting them to join the social interaction. At the same time it is possible to stay at the levels facing the waterfront, reinforcing the possibility of physical meetings and interaction.
