Working with low engagement scores as our base point, and then investigating what was important to managers enabled us to structure a programme around their needs, and the needs of their teams. This helped them to help their people, and the scores jumped up.

Identifying how best to identify key talent and support managers and leaders to deliver their best after a Private Equity buy-out was essential in supporting changes that would impact the business performance. Further training, and best practice sharing has continued to support development.

What started as converting a few modules into cost effective e-learning quickly progressed into compliance and safety management as legacy systems became unnecessary, reducing the need for 1-to-1 remote site inductions, and saving huge amounts on fuel, time and carbon.

Learning does not have to be boring! Nowadays there is a plethora of mediums for learning and yet some trainers or internal experts insist on reading out their presentation slides to large groups of people. If you are going to do that, why not jazz it up a bit, re-record it, add some animations and videos, put some music over it. Then, run a quiz in the workshop, or a poll and capture the data online. Get people to use their smart phones to research answers, and then demonstrate how to achieve excellence in the subject you are talking about. Imagine a 25 page policy document. Does anyone read it? Of course not. Yet, we spend £millions on refreshing, re-writing and re-training them. Stop wasting everyone’s time! Instead give it a revamp, turn a 4hr lecture into a 4min video. Then test learning. Those who don’t pass, invite them to a bitesize training, saving hundreds of classroom hrs in wasted time and focusing your attention to needs!

If you are going to get people onsite to listen to you then make sure it is worth their time, their costs and their carbon (CO2). Give them all the content in advance, then demonstrate or drive the experience when they arrive. If they know the content, their time should be used to practice with you supporting their learning.

AFTER So, you have done a course, and it was great, whats next? For us the programme is the mid point not the end so you have been engaged face to face and on the online platforms, read content, watched videos, commented and made some new friends, met them on the course, and now continue to build the relationship virtually in a continuous learning environment.

He has written 2 Books, over 100 online articles and journals daily with a online user list of over 1500 people. His style is facilitative and reductionary to erode excuses and prompt immediate changes that inspires individuals to action and that gets results for your business.
