In 1968, at 17, I stopped delivering The Athens Messenger, whose conservative publisher had for three years been raiding the Ohio University Art Department for Clarence White's talented photography students.
Combing the archives, forty years later, I discovered that these students' work transcended the conservative spin they were hired to dress -- and that the work of one of these students, not lured from study by the local paper but drafted and ordered to make propaganda, instead exposed our army's involvement in an atrocity -- My Lai -- hastening the end of the Viet Nam War.
