Jamboree Music

Get ready for the 11th year of great music at the Pedaler’s Jamboree! We are excited to have the amazing band Blitzen Trapper headlining the festival this year! The long time crowd favorite band The Kay Brothers will be heating up the main stage for them! Also, wait until you get a load of the Flint Eastwood show in Franklin and the David Wax Museum show in Rocheport! There really is something for everyone this year. Expect a wide variety of great music trailside from the start to the finish of your Jamboree experience. Get your legs and ear drums ready for a workout! The Trailside Sample CD is back! May it help you discover new favorite bands and help you plan your riding and resting schedule for maximum Memorial Day weekend fun. We encourage you to support the musicians at the Jamboree by picking up a copy of their albums and giving them a high five for coming. Enjoy the show(s)! 28

Blitzen Trapper Over the course of 15 years and seven full-length albums, Blitzen Trapper has crafted one of the more compelling and varied catalogs in contemporary rock and roll. Indeed, singer and guitarist Eric Earley, who is also the Portland, Oregon-based band’s primary songwriter, is possessed of a musical and lyrical sensibility that is remarkably deep and wide; big ideas and universal emotions are wrung from the seemingly plainspoken details of small-screen and often highly personal stories, and set to music that reaches way, way back to old-timey folk and bluegrass, travels through everything from country, psychedelia and soul to prog, garage and metal, indulges gloriously in the classic rock of the 70s and 80s, and makes occasional side trips into hip-hop, skewed pop and noisey freakouts.

The Kay Brothers After many-a yarn spun at Thanksgiving dinner over the years, two brothers finally decide to form a band together and salute the music traditional to their home: The Ozarks. The mission: to preserve the rural music of our forefathers and mothers that used to fill the wooden barns that once dotted countryside on Saturday night & the small family churches on Sunday morning. That party is still going on.... it's in your blood.

29

David Wax Museum The roots of David Wax Museum stretch back nearly a decade, and all the way from New England to Mexico. As a student at Harvard, Wax began traveling south of the border to study and immerse himself in the country’s traditional music and culture. Back in Boston, he met fiddler/singer Suz Slezak, whose love of traditional American and Irish folk music fused with Wax’s Mexo-Americana into a singular, energetic blend that captivated audiences and critics alike.

Flint Eastwood Much like the city that shapes her work, Detroit-based Jax Anderson, aka Flint Eastwood, wakes up everyday confronting a world that tells us that we are not good enough, not unique enough, not rich, beautiful or smart enough; not the right color; not the right gender. Success is as subjective as it is elusive, but if the debut single “Queen” from Anderson’s Broke Royalty EP reveals anything about the songstress, it’s that she’s everything she needs to be. Spirit of 76 Fireworks Show We are excited to bring the Spirit of 76 Fireworks show to the Jamboree! Spirit of '76 - for all your fireworks needs! Come visit or their year-round air conditioned store or their HUGE seasonal tent 3 miles west of the Columbia Mall off I-70 at Midway Exit 121

30

Dirtfoot Whether performing on big stages at festivals, or playing intimate setting in pubs and the finer taverns all over the mid west & south, Dirtfoot puts on an uproarious show. The crowds come to take part in the fun and chaos, hollering to all the calls and responses, shaking their beancans, and getting down with the infectious grooves. There is only one Gypsy Punk Country Grumble Boogie band in the land. Dirtfoot.

Violet and the Undercurrents Beauty can be found in the river, in its invigorating turns and its kinetic, renewing flow. These qualities permeate the music of Violet and the Undercurrents, whose sophisticated, affecting folk rock sound tells vibrant stories with graceful arcs.

Julian Davis Sweet Rock-&-Roll makes you want to get Funky ... and that's what The Stone Sugar Shakedown is all about. Each free-spirited performance invites people of all ages to sway, trip, twirl and whirl, while enjoying the good vibes created by The Shakedown's love for sugary harmonies and thumpin' rhythms.

31

The Burney Sisters The sisters started singing around the house when they were barely able to walk, with some vocal coaching from Mom, they began harmonizing well before they picked up instruments. Their soul nurturing sibling harmonies and tunes are reminiscent of The Avett Brothers, Cowboy Junkies, First Aid Kit, Indigo Girls, The Staves, and The Wild Reeds, and their music can be found on itunes, Spotify, Google Play and Amazon.

One Way Traffic One Way Traffic is a St. Louis based Americana/Grassroots band to look out for on the scene. Producing a sound thats influenced by Bluegrass, Americana, Folk and Blues, One Way Traffic is unique in its approach and honest in its delivery. All members are songwriters aiming to keep it fresh and share experiences with the listeners. One Way Traffic is made up of seasoned musicians that are hungry, young, and genuinely enjoy working together -and it shows in the live performance.

Dawson Hollow Missouri native Dawson Hollow is an indie-folk band based out of the Ozark Mountains. Their music encompasses the nostalgia of folk while channeling the urgent and intoxicating energy of indie-rock. In 2017 they completed a crowd-funded Kickstarter campaign raising an impressive $96,000 for their debut record. The album was produced by San Diego native, Ryan Poole, and mixed by Grammy award-winner and Nashville-based producer/mixer, Ryan Hewitt. The band is now signed with Red Letter Management Group

32

Beth Bombara Beth Bombara has a folk singer’s head and a rocker’s heart. Drawing inspiration from the melodies and lyrics of Neko Case and Aimee Mann, along with the hooks and harmonies George Harrison and Tom Petty, she has toured nationally as a headliner and supported shows for Pokey LaFarge, Waxahatchee, and Madisen Ward & the Mama Bear. Her most recent album spent 7 weeks in the top 40 AMA radio charts.

The Comancheros The Comancheros are known for putting on some of the most energetic live shows in the business. However, they’ve been able to bottle up some of their energy into their first full length album that came out on Nov. 23, 2018. The album, Heavy and Western, is comprised of eight tracks which live up to the name of the LP. Heavy and Western comes at the tail end of a highly successful year for The Comancheros. They’ve released two singles; Time Machine and He was a Preacher as well as played countless live shows and festivals. The Comancheros are here to stay with an album that’ll make you wanna break out your time machine and have a weekend.

Thank you! For supporting the PEdaler’s Jamboree!

Thank you for joining us on the Jamboree this year! It has been a pleasure hosting this event and seeing cycling friends unite and celebrate a journey on the Katy Trail. I love hearing stories from kids who have grown up participating on the ride with their parents and from people who have made life long friendships on the trail. For me this isn’t much better in life than sharing a weekend with my favorite people on a bicycle trip and sharing a life and a beer or two! The Pedaler’s Jamboree crew aims to make this ride the best experience that we can for riders of all ages and abilities. Please keep giving us feedback on how we can keep tweaking the event to make it a ride that you look forward to pedaling every year! See you on the trail!
