Dear Sir or Madam, th I am a 4 year Masters of Architecture student at the University of Kansas. I am writing in hopes of securing an architecture internship position for Summer 2012. I am confident that I would excel as a member of the Steffian Bradley Architects team. My skill set and variety of experiences in the design and building industries have prepared me to become a productive member of your design process. I have a passion for collaboration and am eager to contribute my ideas and hard work to develop design solutions with experienced, high achieving professionals. Working on large-‐scale projects provides an opportunity for the architects at Steffian Bradley to have an impact on the lives of many people. It is apparent that your firm achieves exceptional design, both on a micro and macro level. My passion in architecture lies in materials based design and detailing. The materials chosen help bring life to a completed project. Texture, color, mass and form work together to create the subconscious experience of a space. Your excellence in this area is what attracts me to your firm, and I have the ability to help Steffian Bradley carry on this tradition. While studying abroad in Stuttgart, Germany I developed a love of experiencing new cultures and learning languages. I will further my international experience by participating in an internship placement program in Beijing, which will begin in late August. Your participation in international design projects, especially those in China, is another thing I find particularly compelling about your firm. I believe globalization is the future of our industry. The recent projects that your firm has developed in China show a clear vision for the future of Steffian Bradley’s global presence. Steffian Bradley prides itself on achieving innovative solutions to design problems through collaboration with clients, community and colleagues. I have researched many firms around the country and I am certain that this would be an exceptional environment for me to develop as an architect. With my passion for materiality, sustainability, and globalized practice, as well as my skills in digital and physical modeling and drawing, I would excel as a 2012 summer intern at Steffian Bradley. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Michael P. Fahey 1137 Indiana St. Apt. 3 Lawrence, KS 66044 402.881.1339 mpfahey@ku.edu
