The WNFR spectators picked this good gelding in 2007 as the Champion Fort Dodge Animal Health Heading Horse for that year, an award based on his performance in the National Finals Rodeo. The AQHA/PRCA Heading Horse of the Year for 2012 honor was his first title in this category. But his success in the rodeo arena had its beginning in the cutting pen through his breeder Vivian Mitchell. “I showed horses when I was young in English and western pleasure, “ Mitchell notes. The pedigrees of Lite My Dynamite and Fine Snip Of Doc show how good performers come from good pedigrees. They were bred by different people but their pedigrees are mirror images of each other in several aspects.

Image Pedigrees into horses. I got into cutting which is a wonderful sport. Molly (Miss Dynamite Doc) the mother of Lite My Dynamite was my first cutting horse.” Mitchell got into cutting somewhat casually. “I was riding horses for fun at a private riding club called the Horseshoe Club. I would go out there and ride with friends. One of the ladies Betty Bell had gotten into cutting. She had always shown palominos. She had bought Molly but didn’t like cutting. It just didn’t fit in with her schedule and how she liked to ride. So she was selling Molly and I bought her, saddle and all, and that is how she became my first cutting horse.” Before buying Molly, Mitchell worked with trainer Chubby Turner who had a barn close to the Horseshoe Club at that time. “I rode some of his practice horses. Mitchell recalls. “Since then I have just kept going. I still have one

Mitchell is a successful cutter with earnings of $25,651.14. Through Molly, Vivian Mitchell became a breeder. “As I got better horses, instead of selling Molly I bred her. Lite My Dynamite was her first foal. Then I rebred again to Lectric Playboy. Then I bred her to

Tumbleweed Smith and that is when I sold her.” None of the other foals out of this mare have an AQHA or NCHA show record except Tumbleweeds Dynamite. This mare was shown but has no AQHA points. Ranch was named an AQHA Best Remuda winner in 2007.) Fine Snip Of Doc (Cave Man), a 2001 bay gelding was sired by Snip Of Colonel, who traces in the sire line to Jewel’s Leo Bar and is out of Fine Crystal Doc by Doc O Dynamite. Being in the horse selling business, Robinson sold Fine Snip Of Doc to Zane Williams, a Montana Rancher and horse trainer. “We have been training horses for a long time,” Williams notes. “We’ve had some success–the horse that Chad Masters rode at the NFR this past year is one that we bought and trained.” “We have a little ranch here in southeastern Montana. Run a few cows. I have an ole grandpa named Frank Robinson that is going to be 95 in April. He is a great uncle to Stuart Robinson that raised Fine Snip Of Doc. Well it was about 20 years ago that he takes me up to Stuart’s place and shows me those colts. Frank is one of the last Army Remount soldiers stationed at Fort Robinson,” Williams recalls. “He was born behind a horse driving it and I got to see he had a very good eye for a horse. The colts were little and a little short of speed. But what a wonderful set of colts they were to

ride. They were a little spooky but not a lot of buck in them.” “I actually bought two full brothers to Fine Snip Of Doc before I bought him. I went back to get this colt because the two brothers rode just outstanding. By this time I had ridden about 20 half-brothers to him, all out of different mares,” Williams continues. “I still have one full brother at home, Snip Of Fine Crystal. He’s eight now. It looks like

he wants to follow just like the rest. I just followed ole grandpa’s lead and got two or three and now we go back every year in the spring. “The oldest full brother I had was Irish Crystal Doc,” Williams adds. “I called him Music. I’ve been a broke rancher all my life and I didn’t want to sell him. But I made a mistake.” Williams explains his mistake: “Bill Myers that owns Frenchmans

is their and getting ready for the timed events. He actually shows up a little late and wants to film this horse for this kid and he said, ‘Can you heel some for me?’ So I jump on this colt with a halter, as a four-year-old, and heel some for Brian. Well the kid’s dad offers me a large amount of money for this horse and so I sell him. I sometimes think I should have kept him longer but I was a poor rancher and it was a lot of money.

Guy has helped me a lot with starting colts. He showed me how to turn one around. We have been good friends forever. I had got this colt I called Music because he was music to me to ride compared to what I had been riding. I had been riding stuff that I hated and I got this colt and I fell in love with him. So I rode him a year and by that next spring I had gotten him right in my hand. He was a lot of fun to ride just like his full brothers have been. “So I can’t wait to show Billy how I got one to step across and do the 360 that he showed me to do,” Williams goes on. “I take this colt to South Dakota with me. Brian Fulton

“Well that young man takes that horse and becomes the driver for Speed Williams and Rich Skelton and they are on the road to their eight championships. Well Rich tries to buy Music from this kid every year. But he never gets to buy him. The kid knew what he had.” Unfortunately, Music sustained a bad cut to his foot last year and they lost him. Williams describes Fine Snip of Doc as “very, very easy to break to ride.” “ He was smaller so we didn’t ride him a lot when he was three or four. He got some pounds on him and so we put a little more pressure on

him when he was five or six. We won a lot of local ropings around here with him. I rodeoed on him one summer when I was heeling for my boys.” “He is one of the greatest horses I have ever had here,” Williams says. “You could just put a tie-down on him and go rope. He has grown up now and really doing it. It was the right combination of the stud and mare.” “I have a full sister to the brothers and this mare was real good too. She was so good I had to stop riding her or somebody was going to

He was the whole package except maybe a touch hard to bridle.” Something they say is still hard to do. He is now owned by Jade Corkill of Fallon, NV, who earned his first PRCA World Champion Heeling title in 2012. Fine Snip Of Doc is no stranger to the AQHA/ PRCA Horse of the Year titles. He won his first Horse of the Year title in 2010. He now has won the title two of the last three years. Williams recalls how he got the fourth full brother Fine Snip Of Crystal. “Stuart called me and said she had another stud colt. I said I would take him. Well the mare was getting

offer me a pile of money and I wanted to keep her in my horse herd.” The keeping of these mares and the full brother to Fine Snip Of Doc being a stud plays into the new aspect of the Williams program. “I’ve just gotten into breeding horses.” A big part of his plans hinges on Fine Snip of Crystal and nine granddaughters of Doc O Dynamite he has bought and is bringing into the mix.

The Mirror Image The pedigrees of these two champions show they were bred similarly. They both trace in the sire line to Jewel’s Leo Bar (Freckles) and they are both out of dams sired

by Doc O Dynamite. Both of these Doc O Dynamite mares were bred on the Scott Ranch of John R. Scott and Sons of Billings, MT. The Sire Side— Fine Snip Of Doc was sired by Snip Of Colonel, a 1984 NCHA money-earning son of the 1976 NCHA Open Futurity Champion Colonel Freckles. Colonel Freckles went on to sire the winners of $5,000,000 in the arena including the NCHA Open Futurity Champion Colonel Lil and NCHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion Col Lil Pepper. The sire of Colonel Freckles was the legendary stallion Jewel’s Leo Bar or Freckles as he was called by the industry. He was a successful show horse in his own right. He earned an NCHA Certificate of Ability as the winner of $6,037. He was an NCHA Open Top Ten qualifier in 1970. He was ROM in the AQHA with performance points in halter, cutting and western pleasure. Freckles was sired by Sugar Bars and out of Leo Pan by Leo. The sire of Sugar Bars was Three Bars and his dam was Frontera Sugar by Rey. Rey was sired by Captains Courageous and his dam was Goldie by Red Lantados. The dam of Frontera Sugar was a mare by Ben Hur by Rainy Day. Leo, the sire of Leo Pan, was sired by Joe Reed II by Joe Reed P-3. Leo was out of Little Fanny by Joe Reed P-3. Leo Pan was out of Panchita by Handy Shot. Panchita was out of a Little Joe mare by Little Joe, the grandsire of King P-234. Freckles was the sire of Freckles Playboy, the Co-Reserve Champion of the 1976 NCHA Open Futurity. The 1976 NCHA Non-Pro Futurity Champion was Mia Freckles. Lena RED PEP

Great Attitude Makes Him A Winner Whatever He Does By Bobbi Finarty

For every horse, there’s a story to tell. In the case of Lena Red Pep, that story is still unfolding.

Lena Red Pep, a 2001 red roan stallion by Peptoboonsmal and out of Lenas Sissy Moon, started his performance career as a cutting prospect. A son of Peptoboonsmal, the legendary cutting horse sire whose offspring have earned more than $16 million, Lena Red Pep was destined to work cattle. And work cattle he did.

Early Show Career Like many young colts, “Red” began his show career in the National Cutting Horse Association due to his bloodlines and heritage. Not only was his sire a multi-million dollar producer, but his maternal grandsire was the great Doc O’Lena, NCHA Open Futurity Champion and leading sire. Lena Red Pep earned nearly $15,000 in NCHA competition prior to becoming one of the most versatile stallions in the industry. American Quarter Horse Association records list William J. Sheppard, Jr. as the breeder of Lena Red Pep. Sheppard sold the colt, and as a young prospect, Lena Red Pep’s owner sent him to Rocky Vondra. Vondra and his wife, Ada, ran a training program in Texas for two- and three-year-old horses. Red was one of nine two-year-old stallions in Vondra’s barn at the time. Though he enjoyed riding the colt, Vondra says his wife saw the potential in Lena Red Pep early in his career. Vondra remarks on Lena Red Pep’s attitude, “This horse loves women. When he was a two year old, that horse would hang his head over my wife’s shoulder without a halter on and follow her around.” They didn’t know they would own the stallion eight years later. After leaving the Vondra program as a two year old, Lena Red Pep began a journey in which he might have fallen through the cracks as a performance stallion if not for the chain of events that ensued. Red earned nearly a thousand dollars in National Reined Cow Horse Association competition in addition to his NCHA winnings. He changed owners and trainers, siring only a handful of foals, until Chris Thibodeaux of Jennings, LA, purchased him. Thibodeaux had the foresight to send the stallion to Robbie Schroeder, Quarter Horse trainer and exhibitor. With Schroeder, Lena Red Pep found his niche in the roping pen.

Hitting His Stride In 2009, Lena Red Pep began his AQHA show career, earning his Performance ROM. In 2010, the stallion was poised to challenge the leading horses in the industry at the AQHA World Championship Show. He qualified in four events—Senior Heading, Senior Heeling, Senior Tie-down Roping and Senior Working Cow Horse. Because of an injury, Lena Red Pep did not compete at the World Show that year. Despite the injury, Lena Red Pep placed in the top ten in the nation for High Point Senior Tie-down Roping honors in 2010. During the course of the 2010 show year, Lena Red Pep had won the All-American Quarter Horse Congress tiedown roping title and was the reserve champion heading horse at the Congress as well. By 2011, he had earned another AQHA honor, his Superior in Dally Team Roping Heeling. In 2011, Rocky Vondra had the opportunity to ride Lena Red Pep again. Taking Red back to his facility, then located in Wyoming, Vondra realized his wife had been correct in her early prediction that the horse was a special individual. “I went to riding him, Vondra recalls. “You could go change leads, do figure eights, slide, stop, spin, rope…do whatever you wanted to do. That’s when my wife and I said we’d buy him.” The Vondras purchased the stallion and soon added more AQHA classes to his repertoire—versatility ranch horse and halter—building on the stallion’s strengths. “He is a very quick-minded horse. He thinks all the time,” Vondra says. “He is very quick footed. He’s super cowy, has a tremendous amount of cow.” In 2012, Lena Red Pep qualified for the AQHA World Championship Show in Performance Halter

In 2012, Lena Red Pep qualified for the AQHA World Championship Show in Performance Halter Stallions, though Vondra had other plans. By that time, Red had not only made his mark in the show pen, but also the rodeo arena. Lena Red Pep had earned honors in the nation’s most prestigious Quarter Horse shows, cutting and reined cow horse competitions. In 2012, the Vondras stood Red at stud to the public for the first time. Simultaneously, they recognized the horse’s talent for

Jhett Johnson, PRCA World Champion Heeler, ropes on Lena Red Pep at the 2013 Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo in Odessa, TX. Johnson's brother, Justin, is Lena Red Pep's current trainer. making winning rodeo runs. They sent the stallion to Justin Johnson, a professional roper and trainer from Casper, WY. Justin and his brother, Jhett, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world champion heeler, found Lena Red Pep to be an outstanding allaround horse. “He’s a really, really nice horse,” Justin Johnson says. “He’s so broke. My brother has been taking him to some major ropings.” Lena Red Pep’s versatility and his willing attitude put him in the winner’s spotlight. “In December, a little girl showed him in Thermopolis, WY, in cutting. Less than a month later, Jhett Johnson roped on him in Odessa, TX, at the Sandhills Classic to be the fourth fastest team back for the short round,” Vondra notes. “He can gear down, or he can throttle up. He has that big powerhouse stop. “He’s a really nice, talented horse. He tries hard. He’s good to be around,” Johnson adds. “His disposition is awesome. In a nutshell, I’ll be excited to ride more of his colts in the future.”

Success as a Sire The future is likely to bring more success in roping and also as a sire of versatile all-around horses. Lena

Red Pep sired nine registered AQHA foals prior to 2013. Of those, 100 percent of performance-aged foals are in training. “He already has some colts out there exhibiting the characteristics of what he has,” Vondra says. Two mares, both foaled in 2008, have begun to make their marks in the cutting pen. Kits Dual Lena and Stylish Peptolena have earned NCHA winnings. Sammy Broussard of New Iberia, LA, owns both outstanding young mares. Johnson has ridden Red and also his offspring. He sees the potential Lena Red Pep has as a sire. “You can cross him on a small mare and have something that will hold up. You could cross him a lot of different ways and get a nice horse you can use. He’s going to put some foot and bone on them. You could cross him on a race bred mare for a barrel horse, whatever you want to do,” Johnson says. Lena Red Pep will have the chance to sire foals out of race bred mares, according to Vondra. “My program is that I’m trying to put him on some Dash for Cash bred mares and Royal Shake Em mares. I’d like to see him put on some bigger rodeo mares, roping mares…to be able to rodeo on the colts or show AQHA, or barrel race on them.” Lena Red Pep is expected to sire 38 foals in Spring 2013. Vondra stands Lena Red Pep at High Plains Genetics in Piedmont, SD, during the breeding season. After that, Red will continue to show how he may be the most versatile son of Peptoboonsmal. His story as a proven money earner and sire is still being written.

Mares With More

Lineage of a Champion By Larry Thornton When the final run of the 2012 NRHA Open usin’ horses. My Dad raised a lot of them; we had about Futurity in Oklahoma City was over the champion of 100 saddle horses here on the ranch at one time or the level four division was a fancy looking mare another. We had some Red Buck studs too. named Americasnextgunmodel. This 2009 mare by “I‘ve been around here a long time and had some Gunner (Colonels Smoking Gun) with Casey Dreary in good horses in my younger days,” Moore said. “Born the saddle had overcome her deafness to win the most east of where I live today—about a quarter mile—near Hog Shooter Creek, the first horses I started with had prestigious title in the National Reining Horse Association. She was the first mare since 2008, and some Steel Dust breeding. They were descendants of one of only five mares, to win this great futurity what my Dad had. Ronald Mason, who owned putting her in a very special class of mares. Oklahoma Star and Beggar Boy (TB), was my neighbor. The pedigree of Americasnextgunmodel shows So I had an own son of the Oklahoma Star horse, who she comes from a great line of mares that goes back to also happened to be the first horse I registered with the one of the founders of the American Quarter Horse AQHA. His number was 2030.” (The younger days Association, S. Monsieur Moore of Dewey, OK. The Moore was talking about was prior to 1964 when he story begins with Moore and a mare named Cutie M. dispersed his horses.) The success of this line of mares makes Cutie M one The Oklahoma Star horse Moore referred to was of our “Mares with More.” Other mares in this line are Starboy who was bred by Mason and foaled in May of worthy of the same designation. 1937. His dam, Bay Babe, was a daughter of Old Red Buck P-9. He was sired by Red Man by Tubal Cain. The late S. Monsieur Moore is a member of the The dam of Old Red Buck P-9 was Pet Dawson by Jeff. He first went to the AQHA Convention in 1946 and was named a Director that same year, then serving as President in 1961. Moore, born in 1903, was involved with horses all of his life. In the April 1981 issue of The American Quarter Horse Journal in a story by Helen Biasatti, “Monsieur Moore Quarter Horse Show Celebrates 20th Year,” he said, Cutie M is the foundation of the tail female line of Americasnextgunmodel, the 2012 NRHA Futurity Champion and many other great reining horses. “I grew up with Photo Courtesy The AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum Page 54

Earl Jr by Little Earl and out of Queen by Little Earl. Babe Dawson was the famous blue hen mare that made major contributions to breeding programs for the likes of Ronald Mason and her owner John Dawson. Moore told Biasatti, “In the early 1940’s, when the AQHA was still a yearling, Jim Minnick and Bob Denhardt came by my place since they knew of my band of Quarter mares. Those mares were wild, crazy ridge-running that never had a rope on them except when we branded them. Anyway they wanted me to register them. At that time I thought the AQHA would never amount to anything, so I turned them down. They came back the following year and I agreed to register ten of them.” Then Moore had a visit from AQHA Hall of Fame member R. L. Underwood of Wichita Falls, TX. “He came by my place and when he got ready to leave, he made me promise that I’d be at the next AQHA meeting.” Underwood made a lot of trips to inspect horses for registration and this is probably why he visited Moore. Moore recalled the meeting Underwood asked him to attend. “There were about 40 of us who met there and I heard nothing but arguments for a week. I just knew that the entire organization was fixing to blow. Finally after all matters concerning the split between the National and American Quarter Horse Association were settled, officers were elected and they put me on the Board of Directors.” Moore related that it was at that meeting in 1946 that he made his commitment to support the association with time and money. He served as an AQHA Director from 1946 to 1979, serving on the show and contest committee, artificial insemination committee, the finance committee and a special committee on bloodlines. He was also involved with the expansion of the AQHA facilities. He was an

Division that is a strong arm of today’s modern quarter horse show industry. Moore got his start with quarter horses on the family ranch with mares he called “Steel Dust bred” that originated with his father William Sherman Moore. The younger Moore wasn’t satisfied with the original line of horses and thus worked to improve his ranch horses. He did that by using Starboy and bringing in mares like Cutie M. There are several mares registered by Moore in the AQHA Stud Book, including Rusty M, Peaches M, Pickles M and Cutie M. These mares were all bred by other breeders and registered by Moore. M. J. Murray of Bartlesville, OK, bred Cutie M., a brown mare foaled in 1932. She was sired by Red Ball (owned by Murray at the time) by Oklahoma Star P-6. The dam of Cutie M was a Murray Quarter mare whose breeding is unknown. The AQHA registration application for Cutie M describes the Murray mare as “a brown Steel Dust mare that came from Weatherford, TX.” It is this simple beginning through a ranch mare that we find one of the greatest families of reining horses to ever set foot in the arena. Moore. Cutie M was the dam of two performers including Cutie S who was started on the racetrack, but was a non-winner in one official start. My Pee Wee Star was the last foal out of Cutie M, a gelding by Starboy who earned one AQHA performance point. The third foal out of Cutie M was Dotty M, sired by Starboy. The Registration Application for this mare shows that they spelled Dottie with an “ie.” But computer records show it spelled with a “y.” She was bred by S. M. Moore and foaled in 1943. Dotty M was the dam of 11 foals with five of them being performers with four point earners. The only non-performance point earner was Squirmer by Osage Bob. The halter point earners were Sabrina’s Star by Blondy’s Dude with one point, Halapena by Masota with 4 halter points and Masota Star by Masota with 19 halter points. Masota Star earned three Grand Championships and three Reserve Grand Championships, winning nine firsts in 15 shows. Reba Moore was a daughter of Dotty M, sired by M’s Good Money. She was the dam of Reba’s Good Girl by Harlander. Reba’s Good Girl was the dam of Boogers Good Girl

by Cee Booger Red. This roan mare earned 65.5 AQHA open points and 31 AQHA amateur points and this gives her ROM’s in both areas. Boogers Good Girl was the 1983 AQHA Amateur Reserve World Champion in tie-down roping. Dotaleta was a daughter of Osage Bob and Dotty M. She was unshown but the dam of Royal Bailey Bob by Figure 8 Royal. This mare was ROM in the open with 15.5 points and she had 32 halter points earning her AQHA Championship. Dotty M’s daughter Masota Star is the next mare in our line of descent to Americasnextgunmodel. Masota Star, sired by Masota, was also bred by S. M. Moore. Masota was sired by Osage Bob and out of Prissy M. Prissy M was bred by Bert Benear and her sire was Star Deck by Oklahoma Star P-6. The dam of Prissy M was San Siemon’s Dixie by San Siemon and out of the great blue hen mare Dixie Beach. Masota Star shows us how important Oklahoma Star P-6 may have been to S. M. Moore’s breeding program. She was sired by Masota, who was out of Prissy M by Star Deck by Oklahoma Star P-6. The dam of Masota Star was Dotty M by Starboy by Oklahoma Star P-6 and her dam Cutie M was sired by Red Ball by Oklahoma Star P-6. This gives us a linebreeding pattern of 4 X 3 X 4 to Oklahoma Star P-6 in Masota Star. Osage Bob was the sire of a number of horses for S. M. Moore. He was sired by Flying Bob by Chicaro (TB). His dam was Patsy Clegg by Albert by Hickory Bill. The dam of Patsy Clegg was a mare by Billy Sunday. He was bred by Paul Henry, whose is listed in the Stud Book as address unknown. Masota Star became the dam of 11 foals with five performers with four point earners. was ROM and the third place AQHA High Point Reining Horse in 1971. Masota Jet Star by Phantom Jet was a Superior western pleasure horse and AQHA Champion with 18 halter points and 101 performance points. The other two point earners were Masota Jet by Phantom Jet with one AQHA youth point and Masota Red Star by Hurd’s Red Star with one AQHA open performance point. Masota Star was the dam of Lady Masota Star by Bill Royal and she is the next mare in this line. Lady Masota Bar was unshown. John A. Jones Jr. of Smithfield, NC, bred her. Jones brings in several key parts to this family. He was the breeder of Lady Masota Star and the owner of Bill Royal. Bill Royal was bred by the North Wales Quarter Horses in Virginia. He was sired by Bill Cody by Wimpy P-1. This is our first appearance of Bill Cody in this family of mares. The dam of Bill Royal was White Sox Lady by Royal King. The key man behind the North Wales Quarter Horses was Dr. Don J. Wade, a partner in North Wales Quarter Horses. Bill Royal was an AQHA Champion with 76 halter points and 42 working points. He was also a finalist in the 1966 NCHA Open Futurity. In an interview with Dr. Wade many years ago he called, “Bill Royal one of the best.” He described two shows that highlight this horse’s career and indicate why he thought Bill Royal was the best: in the first show, Bill Royal was the Reserve Grand Champion stallion, and earned 22 points in halter and performanc; in the second, he was Grand Champion Stallion and won novice cutting, open cutting, western riding, reining and western pleasure, earning 26 more points. The Bill Royal story turns sad as he sired only 17 foals from three small crops. This includes six performers and one of those was Royal Masota, the full brother to Lady Masota Star. The loss of Bill Royal must have sent John A. Jones on the hunt for a new son of Bill Cody. He found one in August 1967 when he bought Blair Cody. Blair Cody was sired by Bill Cody and out of Sarah Robinson by Jubilee Joe. Jones bred a mare named Betsy Cee to Blair Cody and got Blair Cee, who went on to be an AQHA Champion with a Superior in halter. He earned 50 halter points and 28 performance points and was an NRHA money winner as well. Rae B. Williams of Raleigh, NC, owner of Blair Cee and Lady Masota Star, bred Cee Blair Masota, from the pair. Cee Blair Masota was the winner of $14,461.58 in the NRHA and 10 AQHA performance points to earn an ROM. This mare was the 1977 AQHA Open World Champion Junior Reining Horse. Williams was also the breeder of Miss Cee Blair, a full sister to Cee Blair Masota who was fifth in the 1980 NRHA Open Futurity after tying the eventual winner Topsail Cody in a go-round. This is noteworthy because Topsail Cody went undefeated in the Futurity and its go-rounds. After the Futurity she took some time off to become a mother and then in 1985 she came back to the arena to be the NRHA World Champion Open Reining Horse. The three foals Miss Cee Blair produced in her hiatus from the reining pen were Cee Leo Step, the winner of $38,421.69, two NRHA World Championships and a membership into the NRHA Hall of Fame; Cee Royal Step, winner of $29,567.71 and the 1987 NRHA Open Derby Reserve Champion, and Cee Bugler Step, who was unshown in the AQHA and NRHA. The sire of these three reiners was Leo Bu Step. When Miss Cee Blair returned to the broodmare band after her World Championship, she produced seven more NRHA money earners and/or AQHA point earners. The leading

Photo Courtesy The AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum. money winner from this set of foals was Cee Blair Sailor by Topsail Cody. This 1988 stallion won $99,713.77 and is a member of the NRHA Hall of Fame. He was the 1994 NRHA Open World Champion, the 1994 NRHA Limited Open World Champion and 1993 NRHA Intermediate Non-Pro World Champion. Cee Blair Sailor had a big year in 1994 with Craig Schermsal in the saddle. They went to Germany and won the $30,000 Americana Open Championship. This good stallion won every class he entered at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in 1994. His NRHA Hall of Fame biography tells us that he won 57 AQHA and NRHA Championships that year. He would later take owner Dave Connor on to success in winning several NRHA Bronze Awards. He is the winner of 73.5 AQHA points and is Superior Reining Horse. The success of Cee Blair Sailor was followed by his full sister

Page 60

Topsail Ma Cee Blair, the 1998 NRHA Amateur Limited Non-Pro World Champion. She earned 6.5 AQHA points and $6,970.03 in the NRHA. The next Miss Cee Blair champion was The Whiz Master by Topsail Whiz. This gelding earned $54,076.05 and the 2002 NRHA Non-Pro World Championship. The other performers out of Miss Cee Blair were Royal Cassadaga, winner of $22,139.41; Mr Bill Royal, winner of $1,050.21; Cee Miss Hollywood, by Lean With Me winner of $2,053.63, and Senorita Miss Cee by Corona Cody winner of $23,702.38. The only daughters of Miss Cee Blair are Senorita Miss Cee and Cee Miss Hollywood and they are both producers. Cee Miss Hollywood by Hollywood Dun It was the dam of 12 NRHA money winners and/or AQHA point earners. The leading money winner is Lean With Hollywood by Lean On Me, winner of $117,740.98 with titles that include the 2009 Open High Point International Halter

Aged Stallion and 2009 Open All Around High Point International Performance Horse. Some of the other NRHA money earners out of Cee Miss Hollywood include Cee Pepto Wood by Sweet Lil Pepto ($28,483.88), Miss Ruff Hollywood, by Lil Ruff Peppy ($26,427.98) and Wimpys Little Cee by Wimpys Little Step ($14,926.95). Senorita Miss Cee was sired by Corona Cody, a multiple AQHA world show qualifier with 42 AQHA points in reining and working cow horse. Corona Cody won 31 of 33 AQHA reining contests he entered. This son of Joe Cody who was by Bill Cody completes our second linebreeding pattern for the female family of Americasnextgunmodel. This gives her female family a linebreeding pattern of 3 X 3 X 4 to Bill Cody. Bill Cody was the first horse to be named the AQHA High Point Halter Horse in 1952. He was Grand Champion at many of the great shows and was a successful roping horse. He was sired by Wimpy P-1 by Solis by Old Sorrel. The dam of Solis was a mare we call today Mother of Solis and Old Sorrel sired her. The dam of Wimpy P-1 was Panda by Old Sorrel. The dam of Bill Cody was Pesetita by Old Sorrel and her dam was Peseta by Cardenal by Old Sorrel. The leading money winner out of Senorita Miss Cee is Senoritas Serenade, winner of $10,715.86. Senoritas Serenade is the dam of four NRHA money winners and/or AQHA point earners such as Wimpy Little Girl by Wimpys Little Step, winner of $25,471.84, and Cee Wrangler by Starlights Wrangler, winner of $22,758.45. Cee Dun It Do It by Hollywood Dun It and out of Senorita Miss Cee was the winner of $4,797.17 and three AQHA youth points. Cee Dun It Do It is the dam of five performers including Americasnextgunmodel. Her other performers include Dun It In The Bay by Starlights Wrangler.

Senorita Miss Cee is linebred to a Bill Cody/King P-234 cross. This is a Wimpy P-1 and King P-234 cross as Wimpy was the sire of Bill Cody. This is a great example of inbreeding in the tail female line to a great cross or nick.

This mare has won $26,462.78. Cee Dun It Do It is the dam of four foals born in 2001 and 2012 that are full sisters and brothers to Americasnextgunmodel. The power of the female family of Americasnextgunmodel is shown in the performance record profiled here. Miss Cee Blair was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2002, giving this famous family three NRHA Hall of Fame members. This is a great record for a family of horses that had their start on an Oklahoma ranch and a mare named Cutie M, our mare with more from the past.

Spiritual Food from Gods Feed Truck Peace - Shalom Where does peace come from, who does peace come from. Do you have the peace in your own life that you desire to have? Our journey in life takes us on trial after trial and consciously or subconsciously, the driving force behind us is our search for that ultimate place of tranquility. Our self-talk is constantly shouting at us in ways like this: when you have a little more money you will be happy. When you can get along with your spouse you will be happy. When your body is healed you will be happy. If you could just take that trip to that favorite place you dream of going you will surely be satisfied and peace and rest will be yours. If only I had the right home, truck, cows, dogs, etc !! The fact is that none of those things ever comes through with what the voice from inside your head promised. There might be a certain amount of pleasure from some of those things, but the problems that come to us as we strive to achieve things almost always overshadow any sense of satisfaction that was promised to us by that driving voice from inside. When the disappointment of reality comes home to rest with us on these trials we take in our lives, our passion for life starts to be over shadowed by the price we pay for ventures. We often find ourselves becoming the people we had told ourselves we would never become (crabby, bitter, rude, negative, etc.) If you remain in this state of mind for too long it will produce more and more adversity for you. So what is the answer? John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Jesus would have used the word “Shalom”as he spoke Aramaic-Hebrew. Shalom I leave with you is a Jewish form of salutation and benediction. Brown Driver & Briggs Hebrew Lexicon describes “Shalom” as completeness, safety, health, soundness (in body) prosperity, peace, quiet, contentment, tranquility, peace used of human relationships, peace with God especially in covenant relationship, peace from war. Wow!! Now that’s a powerful word that has all areas of your life covered. These things are yours as the inheritance in Christ! He has given you His completeness, His safety, His Health, His soundness, His prosperity, His peace, His quietness, His contentment, and His tranquility, His peace in human relationships, His peace with God through the covenant made at the cross and His peace from war. Praise God, Thank you Jesus! Sit back and reread and absorb what all is yours with Jesus’ Shalom in your life. See yourself free from regrets, anxieties, lack and worry. See yourself healthy, energetic, strong with abundant life. The Shalom of Jesus is on your side to make you a success in life. You no longer have to accept failure, lack, and defeat in your life. Experience the absolute peace with God. You stand upon the righteousness of Jesus and not your own. God is on your side, and when God is for you who can stop you. You have all you need. Today make a choice to believe, receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, so you can start to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding and that will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Out of the auger… Shalom Hope Givers Working Ranch Dennis Cappel WORKING WORKINGHORSE HORSEMAGAZINE• MAGAZINE•March/April March/April2013 2013

Best Selling Snaffle and Rig Offered by CHS!

DLO-R Snaffle - Our number one selling mouthpiece. The reverse spiral snaffle gives the rider the most contact with the side that is being worked. The feel is acquired on one side while staying smooth on the other. Keep a horses mouth fresher longer without numbing it to the spiral.

RSP-35 RSP-35 Rope Nose $160.00 Sidepull - The free moving rings give the curb and the reins separate motion. This binds the sidepull less and allows the jaw strap to keep the nosepiece in place. “I have had trainers who did not care for sidepulls switch because of this one.” Brad Loesch “We like to use this sidepull to break a horse, so we can work them in a hackamore later on. You can get them quick to the stop without getting in their mouth. I worked “Shania C” all the way through, from a three year old to the end.” Shannon Hall DLSSR - Great for kids, trail riding and ranching as well as our best selling transition bridle. $250.00
