I started this project looking at the skinhead subculture, especially the iconic garments and rose motif. I found it fascinating how such a feminine, refined symbol was associated with this thug-like, masculine world. I juxtaposed the iconic shapes of worker wear; donkey jackets, heavy duty denim, Dr Martens boots; with the delicate rose work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, on whom I based my print work.
