1 cup sugar 2 tsp cornstarch

Put into top of a double boiler. Beat 5 to 7 minutes until stiff. Add 1 cup dates

3\4 cup walnuts

Drop onto baking sheet and bake 10 minutes

Prize Oatmeal Cookies Margaret Taylor 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup margarine 2 eggs 2½ cup flour 1½ cup oatmeal 1tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt 1tsp vanilla May add nuts, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut.

Cream sugar and margarine. Mix in eggs. Add dry ingredients and vanilla. Any additional ingredients are added last. Drop small balls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 until lightly browned. Makes 6 doz. medium sized cookies.

Pfefferneuses Cookies Dorothy Knechtel 5½ cups sugar 4 cups molasses 2½ cup lard Boil and cool above ingredients. Mix 2 tbsp baking soda in ¼ cup hot water. Add to cooling mixture. Beat 6 eggs and add to cooled mixture. To 18 cups flour add ¼ oz cloves, 3 tsp pepper, 3 tsp cinnamon, 3 tsp allspice, 3 tsp salt. Add spiced flour mixture to cooled mixture. Mix well. Let rest overnight, covered. To bake, roll out and cut into diamond shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 10- 15 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. A8
