Castle Rock
Summer Concert Series Outdoor concert venues are stuff of legends in Colorado. Right here in Castle Rock there is just such a venue that makes enjoying fantastic music that much more majestic of an experience. If you’ve never experienced a concert at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park, this summer’s line up of entertainment is the perfect opportunity to check that off your list. Past performers in the Summer Concert Series include Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Shooter Jennings, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Thompson Square. This summer’s lineup kicks off with Everclear, with special guest Tonic, on June 15th. With some of the 90’s most iconic alt-rock hits, Everclear hasn’t slowed down a bit, continuing to tour and play their hits that you can’t help but sing along to like, “Father of Mine” and “Santa Monica.” Their 2015 album, “Black is the New Black,” proves that they just keep making great music, no matter the decade! July 13th is the Castle Rock Summer Jam, an all day event that will be rockin’ from 2-9pm! This year’s lineup include battle of the band winners Solar, John Saunders Band and The Fray. All you country music fans will want to wrangle tickets to see Clay Walker on Sunday, June 21st, from 6-10pm. After bursting onto the charts over 25 years ago with hits like “What’s It to You” and “Live Until I Die,” Clay Walker went on to record album after album of chart topping hits. With success spanning decades, The Guess Who, will be performing for what is sure to be a multi-generational audience on August 11th. Through all their incarnations over 5

the past 6 decades, they have found ways to reinvent themselves along the way. Their single, “American Woman,” was originally released in 1969 but which was recorded and rereleased by Lenny Kravitz 30 years later, reintroducing The Guess Who to a whole new generation of fans. The Summer Concert series closes with a performance by the Denver Pops on Sunday, August 24th. The Denver Pops: A Beatles Tribute Featuring Mike Masse and the Rubber Souls will be the perfect way to end an epic summer of music. It would be hard to choose which of these shows not to miss, but luckily, there are a limited number of Season Lawn Passes for sale, so you don’t have to miss a single one! With a Season Lawn Pass, you get one general admission ticket to all five concerts in the Summer Concert Series, a Season Pass lanyard mailed to your home, separate venue entry (must have your lanyard and pass present to enter) and free parking. What a perfect way to spend the summer! For the price of some single concert tickets, you get FIVE outstanding concerts to fill your summer. It doesn’t get much better than sitting under the twinkling lights in the trees, with the rising up around you, under a gorgeous, Colorado summer sky - drink in hand while an amazing show is happening in a beautiful amphitheater right in front of you. Come take it all in this summer at the and one of the shows that make up this year’s Castle Rock Summer Concert Series. For show informatoin and tickets, go to www.crgov.com/2618/Summer-ConcertSeries

Castle Rock Races No matter your age or ability level, there’s plenty of opportunities to get out and get active this month in Castle Rock! Climb4Change – May 11th Life is often an uphill battle. Climb4Change takes an uphill battle and turns it into progress for an incredibly important cause, the Town of Castle Rock’s Adaptive Recreation Program. Since Climb4Change’s inception, program registration has increased by over 70% and the event has raised thousands of dollars helping to ensure everyone in the community has access to recreational opportunities. Climb4Change is a whole different kind of 5K; instead of running 3 miles, you are racing up the stairs of the Challenge Hill at Phillip S. Miller Park. There are four events to choose from: Race to the Top – A one-time run to the top… think you can beat the course record? Trail Race – Go up the stairs and down the trail, but hurry, you only have 30 minutes. Power Hour – You guessed it. Up and down those stairs, for an hour! Run4Fun – This untimed event is a little less competitive way to show your support. You’ll go up the stairs and down the trail, just once, and can be done at any time during the event except at the start of any of the other races. Participants in this event still receive a shirt and medal. The fun gets underway at 7:00am at the Challenge Hill at Philip S. Miller Park with packet pick up. Power Hour begins at 9:25am, the Trail Race commences at 10:15am and the Race to the Top starts at 10:45am. The Run4Fun officially begins at 11:15am but can be done at anytime. At 11:15am race division results and Hill records will be announced.

Please note that this age group will not begin their race until 10:30 am. 7-8 & 9-10 yearolds will swim 50m (two lengths of the pool), bike 4km and run 1km (see the course map for both), and the 11-12 & 12-14 year olds will swim 100m (down and back the length of the pool twice), bike 8km and run 2km (see the course map.) he can certainly lead you to a fantastic selection as James is a certified sommelier. Crush Wine Bar offers over 50 wines by the glass, half-glass, quarter-glass or bottle. It’s a great place to sample many different wines! I was impressed when I viewed the wine list. I love the extra description they add so I get a feel for the wine as I read down the list. It creates an experience before I decide, Rich and full, vanilla, crème brulee, or Black fruit, earth, spice, medium-bodied. I can feel like an expert even though I’m only a novice. Come by for Happy Hour! Monday, All Night! Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00pm - 6:00pm Discounts on all small plates and all full glasses of wine. Enjoy your evening at Crush Wine Bar.
