Our older people are entiltled to feel safe in their homes and be financially secure. I would like see the basic state pension linked to earnings and our police patrolling our streets. We all depend on the NHS at some stage in our lives. We need to free health professionals from ‘top down’ targets and bureaucracy, setting them free to do their jobs.

I regularly meet our local Police and Police Community Support Officers, and am always impressed by their hard work and dedication. We need to ensure they arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t office bound by form filling and bureaucracy and can get out to patrol our streets.

On the doorsteps, many older people are worried about the provision of social care. Conservatives will give our retiring population the opportunity to insure to pay social care costs when they need it, so no-one has to sell their homes.
I campaigned against the overdevelopment of the King Alfred and the proposed unsympathetic development at Hangleton Bottom. We need a local MP who will make a stand and campaign for a sensitive approach to new developments in our city.
