Every experience makes us gain in skills, confidence and will to go over, so I tried to self-evaluate how much I “l-earned” in each project.

In the last page you can also see a resume of these skills. N.B. The number of coins doesn’t say how much I’m good in doing something, but it’s just a way to underline and give an order to what I’ve experienced most in these years.

So I started to collect case studies, projects, books that explained a different application of Design Thinking Process in various field of work. The ones that more interested me were Social Innovation, and Storytelling for Social Innovation. I believe that inspiring stories of inspiring projects can have a powerful impact in the people. The more we talk about who is trying hard to find useful solution, the more there will be people willing to bring his own contribute. Maybe it’s a “Naive” vision of life, but I hardly believe in this, and I try to carry it on as much as I can.

Prototyping of a “Crowd-Design” process for the platform Innonatives, in collaboration with the Nucleo de Design e Sustentabilidade of Curitiba and the community of Aguas Claras.

Documentary about 4 stories of Social Innovation in Curitiba, Brazil in 2014. The movie is supported by a research about toolkits for Storytelling for Social Innovation. This project became my Thesis for the Master Degree in PSSD.

In collaboration with the service designer Greta Bottanelli, we developed a toolkit to help Third Sector companies in creating effective communication strategies. We also organized some workshops to test the tools.

I’m looking for a way to use the learnings about storytelling, to help ONG, social start-ups, and third sector companies to build effective storytelling strategies, on the one hand I’d like to give them more visibility, on the other hand I want to inspire people to join this movement of change, with new ideas, new actions, new projects.

HOW DOes a CROWD-DESIGN PROCESS WORK?

Sustainability Maker Brazil Curitiba, Brazil Feb-Oct 2014

The aim of the project was to prototype the whole “Crowd-design” process purposed by the Innonative platform. Through the supervision of Prof. Aguinaldo dos Santos, from UFPR, the Nucleo de Design e Sustentabilidade was the first team who create a design brief for the Platform, and from the results of the project, was able to indicate some guidelines for further development of the website. The solution obtained by the project has been produced by the company “EcoDesign” and the developers have been rewarded with royalties from the sell of the product.

In a crowd-design process, designer are not the ones who use their skills to find a convincing solution. They are “just” facilitators and mentors that organize and push participants in being efficient in each part of the process, but, in the end, choices are made by the people.

How much storytelling can affect the perception of our cities? Can storytelling for social innovation improve this perception? Can it estimulate more positive attitude in life? Researching emerging theories and practices about storytelling and its use in third sector projects, I completely felt in love with this world and I threw my self in it. So I worked on a documentary, interviewing 4 people from 4 social innovation project in Curitiba, and I presented it in public space of the city to open dialogues with people and see their reaction. The doc participated to the Psicodàlia Festival 2015, to the NDesign 2015 in São Paulo, and it’s available online for free. Click on the links below!

From the experience with “Seeds of Future” I’ve learned that third sector projects needs to have more efficient communication strategies, but often don’t have enough economical resources to invest. This is why lots of projects use “DO-IT-YOURSELF” strategies to spread the results of their work. Considering this as a “Best Practice”, I worked with the service designer Greta Bottanelli to collect tools and exercises that helps this projects in developing their stories, with their-own internal skills, and in the right channels. In order to test this toolkit, we organized some 2-days-workshops, supporting real projects in defining their story-aims, in understanding which was “their” story and in which way they could easily reach it.

Music is always the fuel of life for me... This is a music project I’m very proud to have partecipated as a singer a composer of some tracks. Click on the button below to go to the SoundCloud Page of the band.

Design thinking allowed me to think to a project as a whole group of actions that can be applied in many different areas of interest. I like to face new challenges, and to expand this panorama experimenting even new approaches that are not strickly related to the classical design thinking world. The possibility to research, to reach to new unexpected results, it’s what fascinate me every day in my job.
