Milano140 comes from the need of reinventing classical Italian pieces with a new esthetic vision, quality expression and attention to details and materials research. The brand mission is to value and reinterpret the tailoring heritage in a contemporary concept, relying on the seamstresses handcraft, Italian made fabrics and on the textile sector’s experience of Confezione Damap Srl. The factory was founded in 1961 by Maria Pia Cattaneo and Dante Borlin and is now in the capable hands of their sons. Born as a small artisan shop, Confezioni Damap Srl has established itself as an important outwear and homewear brand, specialized in the design and production of high quality clothing Made in Italy. Milano140 tries to hold up the concept of classic, understood as the traditional way with which collection is manufactured, finding out the right balance with the creation of something contemporary.

The FW 17 18 collection aims at revisiting the old-school male closet with a contemporary spin, without forgetting where the brand came from: homewear. The graphic checks are superimposed, the ends slip out in an edge-to-edge seam and new fabrics that mix style with functionality are implemented. Volumes are oversized and fits are relaxed but juxtaposed with some more severe shapes at the same time they show unexpected elegance thanks to the mix of opposing volumes. The soldierly details, with those taken from hunting garments, are denaturalized to fit a contemporary fashion. The color palette is classic, ranging from black to military green through bordeaux, with hints at geometries from the 70s. The “chemical” red takes us back to contemporaneity. Fabrics reflect this philosophy as well: cloth and cool wool look woolly and comfortable. The shiny nylon, crunchy popeline and the new gabardine all interchange to renew the old “male classic”. The collection rereads the sartorial research in a contemporary classic key with irriverent attitude and artistic influences that redefine the sense of Made in Italy. Prints inspired by John Beech now figure unexpectedly on t-shirts and basic shirts, where color stains give new blood to the old collection archives pictures but especially where tradition meets new thoughts, in a perfect balance.
