The clip-clop of a mule-drawn carriage along a quiet cobblestone street is a familiar sound in the New Orleans French Quarter, adding to the city’s old world charm. The first cobblestone pavement in New Orleans was laid on Gravier and Magazine Streets in 1817, but the material was soon used on major thoroughfares throughout the city including Canal Street, where Coleman E.
