n moving forward it is necessary to have what is called a Sankofa experience. As a people we must revisit the past, evaluate the present, then use knowledge and wisdom to plan for the future. This is necessary in every area in life. And so it is with spirituality. As an African living in America, we ignore looking at Africa, its contributions to the world, enslavement and its affects on culture, as well as social and political issues that need attention for the sake of our future. We have accepted western culture in ways that keep us out of alignment with our nature, our land, its traditions, beliefs and value system. Therefore, it is necessary not to forget the past by knowing our story and philosophy (Africa), before we can study another cultures story and philosophy (America).

THERE IS A TIME TO LOOK TOWARD THE FUTURE TAKING THE PRESENT, AS LESSONS FOR HOPE. JUST AS SANKOFA BENCHMARKS TIME REMBERING BECOMES THE LOVE THAT BINDS.

HIS-STORY Most of our people are Bible bound. We must speak and use the Biblical text as the platform to compare and provoke critical thought with the intent of giving facts that will out weigh faith. Provoking critical thinking skills will teach us how to think, not not what to think. His-Story begins in the biblical text approximately 6700 years ago. Within the first five books of the bible, (The Pentateuch), an account is given for creation, and genealogy up and through the great flood; with Noah and his family being the only survivors. In Gen. 10: Black people are not part of the plan of salvation… Sons of Noah = Gentiles=people of north nations…barbarian: Shem=Jews=Arabs=Abraham Japheth= European Gen. 10: 2…Magog=Europe, Greece, Russia Ashken =Germany Elegath=Spain *Ham = black African Cush=Ethiopia Misraim=Egypt Phut=Libya Canaan=Palestine NT church = Jews.Gentiles not Ham Eph. 2:11 *African nations=son Ham…no designation of being included in the plan of salvation, only descendants of Shem, which also later included Japheth. This means the Bible was not written for black Afrikans, but it can and should be learned as literature as an Afrikan living in America to help liberate our people from European philosophical thought and return to an Afrikan conscious people.

OUR STORY We must know our story before we can know His-Story. Despite how western culture and philosophy try to oppress and suppress the Afrikan living in America, we can empower ourselves with right knowledge, knowing that our contributions to the world is what gave way to the beginning of other cultures and philosophies. Everything comes out of Afrika; it is the cradle of civilization. Our story begins over 400,000 years ago with the Hutu and Twah people of Afrika. As of 3000 BCE writings begin historically in Kemet (the child of Ethiopia), now known as Egypt, Africa. Our story precedes the Biblical text. Our story is not one of religion but of a personal relationship with God both physically and spiritually without a mediator, ultimately in harmony with nature. (NTR) Our story, philosophy, begins with the Metu Neter, which are the sacred writings of Ptah Hotep inscribed on the walls of the pyramids. On these walls you will see the Trinity of Asar, Aset and Heru or also known as Osirus, Isis and Horus, the virgin birth, Death and Resurrection of Osirus, other historical events and contributions of black African people. To date there is nothing older. Afrika gave civilization to the world, the arts, music, philosophy, medicine, mathematics, and God consciousness. Other accomplishments: Building the great pyramids Invented hieroglyphics, a system of writing, pictographs Made paper from papyrus reed plant Created governments as kingdoms establishing dynasties Invented the calendar by using a form of astronomy, accurate within 365 days based on the star Sirius.
