Paths & Recesses
The Site is an empty post-industrial lot at the Marina metro Station near Diagonal in Barcelona. The space was previously used as storage for Barcelona’s largest above-ground train station and is currently surrounded by interconnected parks and a sports field. Its shape comes from a unique break in the L’eixample grid. The Intervention is a direct reference to the two bridges that cross over the interconnected public spaces. the ‘floating’ greenhouse punctures the existed three-bay building on the site, allowing circulation and program to filter through the repurposed space

Long Section through Site
The Greenhouse projects across the site, connecting the program inside the building with the pedestrian circulation of the surrounding area. Part of the roof is occupiable and acts as a bridge from the uppermost level into the public space of the building program. The two entrances down to the lowest level meet under the glass bridge, emphasizing its importance. Although the exterior of the greenhouse has a large amount of public interaction, the interior is only accessible from the middle level of the building and from a public/private mid-level terrace

The Mediterranean Diet includes a healthy mix of raw produce, with protein almost exclusively from fish. The purpose of this edible garden is to teach and implement urban farming techniques that encourage healthy lifestyle and ecological consciousness The closed-loop Aquaponics system uses 2% the amount of water as a conventional hydroponics system. Fish can be raised to create nutrients for plants, as well as for consumption
