An opening fabric with yarns that are twisted around each other to form complex patterns or figures. Lace may be hand or machine made by a variety of fabrication methods including weaving, knitting, crocheting, and knitting. True lace was not made until the late 15th and early 16th century. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric.
Lace can be used for a wide variety of projects. It is popular accent or trim for apparel and accessories and may also be used for wedding gowns and lingerie.
