ABOUT M ILIFE-VICTORIA

MiLife-Victoria is a Not for Profit Community Service Organisation whose purpose is to support individuals to, as much as possible, be in control of their own life and achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations. MiLife-Victoria is a provider of accredited education programs designed to support people with a disability to develop confidence and provide them with skills and knowledge to support their preparation for work, volunteering or other vocational activities. Courses are conducted using flexible teaching methods and approaches to accommodate individual needs including flexible start and finish times. Cost MiLife-Victoria receives Victorian Government funding from the Council of Adult Community and Further Education to conduct courses in the areas of Work Skills to meet the needs of adults with a broad range of disabilities from the community. By presenting a Health Care or Concession Card you are eligible to receive reduced course fees. INTRODUCTION TO ADM INISTRATION

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in an Administration role as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course will be a combination of classroom and workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in a real work situation. ADULT LITERACY

This course is suitable for people with a learning disability who would like support to develop their reading and writing skills. This course is held in partnership with Belvedere Community Centre, Seaford. LOCATION Frankston DATES

INTRODUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION

During this course students will have the opportunity to experience different construction work sites and environments as well as learn about what is involved in working in the construction industry. Step one of this course is designed to assist students to obtain their White Card as this is a mandatory work card required in Australia to order to work on a construction site. The unit of competency required is CPCCOHS1001A ? Work Safely In The Construction Industry must be held to be able to access and work in construction sites. This will be achieved by completing an online course which the students will be supported through. LOCATION Frankston DATES

INTRODUCTION TO WAREHOUSING & DISTRIBUTION

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in a factory environment as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course will be a combination of classroom and workplace based learning giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in a real work situation at a number of factory/warehouses in and around South Eastern suburbs and Peninsula. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. WHAT IS WORK?

This course is for people that would like to experience a wide variety of work options that are available in many different vocations. They will focus on learning what skills you need for each job, they will interview people, build confidence and develop travel training skills in and around Melbourne/South Eastern Suburbs. It is delivered in a hands-on approach getting out each day into different communities and workplaces. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. INTRODUCTION TO AUTOM OTIVE DETAILING

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in businesses that employee car detailers as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course is workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learn in a real work situation in a number of different roles and environments. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. Course fee is $58 concession and $229 annual full fee. LOCATION Frankston DATES

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in a racing/equine setting as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course will be a combination of classroom and workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they learn in a real work environment. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. LOCATION Mornington and Surrounding Areas DATES

Riding for the Disabled at Mornington Racecourse and at a property in Balnarring. WORK READINESS SKILLS

This course is for students who need to develop and prepare themselves with the knowledge and skills to be able to apply for jobs and/or volunteering positions with confidence and to gain an understanding of what are work expectations etc. Work requirements, team building, communication skills, legal requirements, dress codes, rights and responsibilities, resume writing and more will be covered during the course as well as, attending work expos, presentations from businesses and employment agencies. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. LOCATION Frankston DATES

INTRODUCTION TO HOSPITALITY

The learning objective of this course is to expose students to an industrial kitchen where they can develop skills and knowledge in the area of food preparation, cooking techniques, safe hygiene practices and work expectations in this vocation. This course is a pathway into other formal qualifications such as Food Handling and Catering Courses. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. LOCATION Langwarrin DATES

INTRODUCTION TO HORTICULTURE

This course is held at an organic farm where students will have the opportunity to learn specific task skills required to work in the horticulture industry as well as generic employability skills. They will be exposed to skills and knowledge to perform in this industry. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. OBTAINING M Y 'L' PLATES

This course is designed to assist students to obtain their ?L?plates, helping to strengthen the literacy and comprehension skills required to build confidence in students to enable them to sit the ?L?plate test online. During the course students will have the opportunity to learn the Victorian Road Rules and how to navigate and comprehend VicRoads online practice tests and as well as help students link into their local Council?s L2P Learner Driver initiative to allow them to gain driving experience once they have obtained their Learners Permit.

INTRODUCTION TO BEAUTY

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills required to work as part of a hairdressing team as well as covering nails and make-up. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. This course will be delivered in a workplace based learning approach giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills at a salon in Seaford and Frankston as well as in a classroom setting. LOCATION Frankston and Seaford DATES

To learn and gain confidence with how to use a computer and the associated skills (typing, mouse control, printing etc) as well as MS Word, MS Excel, Email, Powerpoint and the Internet in a fun way.
