ABOUT ACFE PURPOSE To provide pre-accredited training courses designed to support people with a disability to develop confidence and provide them with skills and knowledge to support their preparation for work, volunteering or other vocational activities. Courses are conducted using flexible teaching methods and approaches to accommodate individual needs including flexible start and finish times.

ABOUT ACFE PRICING MiLife-Victoria receives Victorian Government funding from the Council of Adult Community and Further Education to conduct courses in the areas of Work Skills to meet the needs of adults with a broad range of disabilities from the community. By presenting a Health Care or Concession Card you are eligible to receive reduced course fees, this includes material fees. If you are not eligible for concession your fees will be discussed upon enrolment. Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) funded, GST exempt.

LITERACY Over view Students will learn how to read and interpret generic and specific workplace terminology, language, signage, documentation as well as workplace policies, procedures and work instructions. WORKING IN ADMINISTRATION Over view This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in an administration role as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course will be workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learnt in a real work situation. WORKING IN CAR DETAILING Over view This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills relating to working in businesses that employee car detailers as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course is workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills they have learned in a real work situation in a number of different role and environments. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. WORKING IN HOSPITALITY Over view The learning objective of this course is to expose students to an industrial kitchen where they can develop skills and knowledge in the area of food preparation, cooking techniques, safe hygiene practices and work expectation in this vocation. This course is the pathway into other formal qualifications such as Food Handling and Catering Course. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. WORKING AS A VOLUNTEER Over view This course will explore and develop the skills and knowledge required for students to become active volunteers in their community. This includes a work-based learning approach where students will volunteer in workplaces in Frankson and surrounds and will learn different roles and tasks as well as employability skills needed to be a volunteer. WORKING IN RETAIL Over view This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills related to working in a retail environment as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course will be in a workplace, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills that they learn in a real work situation. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. DIGITAL ESSENTIALS Over view This pre-accredited program is designed to help learners understand the basics of various areas of technology, including different digital devices, their functionality and the ways people can use these devices to connect with others and access services over the Internet. The program supports learners to gain digital skills through practical and applied learning activities. HORTICULTURE Over view This course is held at the Langwarrin Community Centre, where students will have the opportunity to learn specific task skills required to work in the horticulture industry as well as generic employability skills. They will be exposed to skills and knowledge to perform in this industry. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course. INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS Over view This course will allow the students to gain confidence with how to use a computer and the associated skills (typing, mouse control, printing etc) as well as MS Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint and the internet in a fun way. WORKING IN WAREHOUSING Over view This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills related to working in a factory environment as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course will be workplace based learning giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in a real work situation at a factory/warehouse. GETTING A JOB Over view This course will explore a wide variety of work options that are available in different vocations. Focussing on learning skills required for each job, building on confidence and developing travel training skills. This course covers generic workplace employability skills including language, literacy and numeracy required for the industry. It is delivered in a hands?on approach getting out and visiting different communities and workplaces and interviewing people who work there to find out more about the different roles.
