Leiloni Oakes Stainsby ’01

Political Science Major, Acting Division Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Preparedness Assessment Division

“My Millikin education helped to grow and develop my critical thinking and analytical skills. The political science staff at Millikin instilled not only a desire to serve, but a need to ask the tough questions, consider all sides of a problem and ultimately do what is right, not what is easy. This mantra stuck with me and helped to shape the professional I am today. Those critical thinking skills are invaluable.”

Jarius Ingram ’23

Biology Major, Pre-Physician Associate Track & Student-Athlete

“From addressing social justice issues and diversity as a Long-Vanderburg Scholar to performing graduate-level research as a Leighty-Science Scholar, Millikin’s professors and programs truly deliver on the University’s mission to prepare students for democratic citizenship in a global environment.”

Greta Jacobson ’22

Chemistry and Mathematics Double Major Current Ph.D. Candidate in Computational Chemistry, University of Washington

“Millikin felt less like a school and more like a home away from home. I just wanted to be in a place where it was okay to be open to anything. No matter what I studied here, I felt supported.”
